Did those 2 merge yet? When I was going to cancel my subscription with XM, they told me info how Sirius will merge with XM. Is this still going to happen?

I've had XM for 4 years now and loved it, although I like it less since the merger. Now the playlists are far less eclectic. I seem to hear the same songs far more often than pre-merger. But I still enjoy it.

The merge requires subscriptions to both services - it was good when each company's stations were being carried seperately but now pretty much all music channels are under one brand and the only things you can get solely on XM or Sirius is sports programming and special interest programming, it doesn't have much value to 70%+ of the subscribers to each service.

You can get the Best of XM or the Best of Sirius. There are also a la carte options.

You don't have to get full-fledged subscriptions to one or both.

I don't need the "Merge" to get them - my old 5 yr old Sky-Fi can get the Best of Sirius but won't contain all the channels compared to if you have subscriptions to both services

You got ripped, they just sent me a offer sheet stating 4.99 a month, even at 5 bucks a month it's not worth it to me.

$5.00/month?!? For what?

I think a la carte subscriptions start at $6.99/mo, and even then you get a limited selection of stations, and you need certain radios/receivers to get them. I also think you can't get Internet radio if you do the a la carte deal.

That's nothing they continue to call me by phone trying to get me to resign with them for a free 3 months. Not to mention before they finally shut my service down a had not paid a nickel in over a half a year as they kept giving me free 3 month blocks, they are too desperate with their tactics and do not see how they even turn a profit.

They don't turn a profit; they're in huge debt.

Just so I'm clear, you canceled your subscription but they kept giving it to you for free? And now they want you back for only $5/mo?

Yes i would call to cancel and they would continue to throw free 3 month blocks at me, this was pre merger by the way. That went on for over 6 months before they finally got the picture that i was not going to spend money with them and they terminated the subscription. Just recently though i was sent a letter saying i could have it at a price of 4.99 a month, sorry not sure what the exact limits were as it is at the bottom of my trash barrel right now.

You're so unhappy with Sirius that you wouldn't pay 1/3 of the normal price?

Not needed, half the time they play music i don't really like, the sports talk is much better in the Boston area as Weei regularly pulls in better and more interesting guest then even ESPN can or Fox sports. I also hate the fact that they lie constantly about being commercial free because it's not, and last but not least the reception was poor at best. It would constantly cut in and out while driving and this was a factory mounted setup.

It just can not beat my ipod for music or Weei for sports talk, so really at even 5 dollars a month it is basically worthless to me.

How do they lie constantly about being commercial free?

They only claim that the music stations are commercial free - which is 100% accurate.
