you, sir, are a true product of the 80's. I still have Beat Street and Gremlins on the same VHS tape that my dad recorded off HBO back in the day. I also have a small collection of Tales From The Crypt episodes that were recorded off HBO during its run as well.

I bought lots of VHS, lots of Laserdisc. Maybe only 15 DVD's.. I now have 150+ blu rays.
So you can pretty much include everything. I waited ages before deciding to buy a DVD player. My PS2 was a japanese import meaning very few discs would actually play for me. I then saw HDTV and decided it was kinda silly investing in DVD when the HD era was around the corner. I waited at least 4 long years for the first HD movies to be released on a disc format. I bypassed the HD-DVD launch and just waited for Blu ray and PS3. I only buy blu rays because its good enough for me now. Even if resolutions doubled or tripled, I would still be happy with a huge 100" screen at 1080p. |

The first film I ever bought for myself was Gladiator on DVD so you can bet I had that pre-ordered the day it was announced on Blu. This is the third time I have bought this movie (Original release, Special Extended Edition and now on Blu) but I will never get rid of that original copy.
As a kid we had Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty in the house and I watched Pinocchio all the time. One of my favorite Disney classics. Was a must-buy for me. The Shawshank Redemption is the only film I've had on VHS, DVD and Blu. |

No that I'm married with a daughter and another kid on the way, all I can think about is collecting these films (along with the Pixar films) on Blu for both my children and posterity. |

I haven't upgraded any of my VHS directly to BD yet, but many of those have of course been changed up for DVD at this point, and a couple to HD DVD.
I think I only have two titles that have jumped directly from LD to BD format: Adventures of Baron Munchausen and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Those in queue: Star Wars original trilogy LD sets (pre- and post-alterations). I only have one SW film on DVD so far, and won't buy anything further until BD versions come out. Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio are the first two that come to mind... (I could give a long list of those that I did pick up on DVD after my LD player bit the dust)
Still have not jumped on the DVD bandwagon for the Star Wars movies (but I did have a friend convert the CAV LD's to DVD for the original 3 movies before his LD player stopped working.) I would totally love to have the Golden Age of Loony Tunes boxes re-issued on Blu... I had all 5 boxes, and miss those more than any other LD I owned... |

Haven't done it yet, but i will definetly get Rush Hour once it is released. I also thought i had Enter the Dragon on VHS, but it turned out to be Return of the Dragon.
My family is thinking about getting Independance Day and Men in Black though. My brother may even get Blade as well. |

Films I jumped directly from LD to BD:
Blade Runner Dances with Wolves Die Hard Fifth Element The Godfather Groundhog Day Pinocchio Poltergeist The Shawshank Redemption Since I replace only about 1/4 of my more than 100 LD with DVD, I expect that more will follow. Some movies I watched so often on LD that I did not want to watch them again on DVD. But now, more time has passed and I like to revisit old favorites. |
