Hellboy II freezing? - Page 2 - Blu-ray Forum

I actually just rewatched it again today. I didn't watch it al the way through cuz the wife wanted to play my game. but it was where Prince Nuada is coming after his siter at the house. You know where Hellboy and the fuish dude live. I had no issue's so MAYBE it is your Laser, or MAYBE you do have a bad disc now. I DON"TKNOW EXACTLY though. sorry for your luck hopfully its an easy fix for you.

Don't have this movie but I've used my PS3 for BD since August of '07 and have never had a single issue with freezing or anything. I Should get the Hellboy movies though, people say they're pretty good. Just added more money to what I'll spend this weekend. Damn.

Watched this movie probably 4 or 5 times since it came out, and never had it freeze on my PS3. Make sure your firmware is up to date and if it still freezes return t he disc.

Firmware is up to date, i've even bought caned air and completley blown out any dust that was inside the PS3

I thought about returning it but the problem is that i bought it the day it came out (i think it was November 11th 2008, but i could be wrong), i doubt Best buy would take it back after all this time

Funy - just picked up Hellboy II from Amazon at a good price - yup my 20GB PS3 freezes at the exact place as described in the thread. Firmware all upto date. Must be a bad batch of disks. Annoying!

I'll check my copy when I get a chance to see if it does the same thing. Never noticed it before though.

My vote is firmware when everyone has the same issue. And it might mean that the newest firmware caused the problem too. It has done that to video games before, new firmware causing problems.

I bought Hellboy II when it first came out and watched it right away - no problems. When this thread was first started, I bought into the possibility of new firmware having caused some problem, so I tried my disc again - it worked perfectly then too. So while it's possible some firmware caused a problem, it seems very unlikely to me.

Now on the other hand, Universal does have a history of bad batch problems. There have been quite a few Blu-rays released by Universal where a bunch of people report freezes in the exact same place. This happened with Serenity, Death Race, and Chronicles of Riddick in what I consider to be large numbers, and also happened to a smaller but not negligible degree with Wanted, Doomsday, and Inglourious Basterds. No rhyme or reason to the freezing besides it always being in the same spot. For people with bad discs, it froze on any player they tried it on. And there were many reports of people with this problem returning the disc to the store for another copy, and having the second copy work perfectly. Nothing changed besides the disc - same player, same firmware, but different result. That, to me, says the problem was almost certainly a bad batch of discs.

Hellboy II seems to fit this pattern to a T. If I had freezing, I'd simply exchange the copy.

I bought a new copy of Hellboy II about a week ago. Worked perfectly for all 5 of my playthroughs. I have ps3 80gb with latest firmware.

My disc freezes aswell, but not at the plac as described in the thread.
Mine freezes when Hellboy is in the locker room and he drinks some kind of Energy Drink, after that he gets in a fight with the German dude, it skips like 1minute...
Only happend on my player though, since I gave the disc to a friend aswell so he could try it on his PS3 but he had no problems at all.
