Does it REALLY sound like "you are in the studio with them" like they say? Lol! (Yet deadly serious about it as well! Lol again!) I've never been "in the studio" with anyone so I don't know how one would know BUT it sure sounds promising. I imagine one needs a good speaker set up of 5.1. I hope to do that one day.

Imho it's like you're in the studio with them listening to the playback of the master tapes[or as close as you're probably ever going to get]......the better your speakers the better the sound[I've been listening to it in stereo using my Advent Baby II'S but at some point i'll get around to hearing it in 5.1]

Didn't see this listed, but the Classic albums series is releasing Damn the Torpedos documentary on dvd and blu-ray.

Here's the press release:

Tom Petty/Classic Albums: Damn The Torpedoes/DVD and Blu-ray
Eagle Rock’s highly acclaimed Classic Albums series has told the stories of some of pop music’s most beloved and influential albums, including records from Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Cream, Nirvana, Duran Duran, Meat Loaf, and John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band, among others. Now, Tom Petty’s 1979 platinum-selling Damn The Torpedoes will join the collection. A behind-the-studio-glass look at favorites likes “Don’t Do Me Like That,” “Refugee,” “Here Comes My Girl,” and “Even The Losers” reveals the creative beauty emulating from this all-American singer/songwriter. [MSRP $24.98 for Blu-ray, $14.98 for DVD]

Anyone buy this off of iTunes?

I think the iTunes version has the 4 CDs, then 3 music videos, and an iTunes LP deal (where the album takes over your iTunes when selected....looks pretty cool).

Dying to get this after hearing a song or two on Pandora.

Just trying to decide between the B&M version of the iTunes version.

This Blu-ray of the making of "Damn The Torpedos" is not what the big deal is. The big deal I thought was of the music industry using this format for music and storying bonus features on them such as film and tons of extra tracks.
