well you have realized what the people on the "cutting edge" over at AVS have not ,welcome to the "real" look and sound of perfect, beyond high definition!
cheers!

I agree.

I think I made over 2,000 highly enjoyable postings on a display thread and several other vintage DVD threads over on AVS before even getting interested in reading/posting anything on the Blu-ray threads over there.

Then…… one person from one company---- Micro$oft---- turned it into a fanbois-free-for-all with all the children pilling on to mimic their “software idol” as he told or insinuated stories of “politics”, back-room dealings, unquestionable codec superiority, BD50 science fiction-ality, etc. hell, the list is endless.

I fear that even after Blu-ray has ground HD DVD into the dust, the resentment from the HD DVD supporters will continue and infect the discussions on any topic dealing with Blu-ray, the consumer electronics companies that were Blu-ray exclusive to begin with and the studios sharing the same position – no matter what peripheral part of the forum you may visit in the future.

I don’t think it will ever go back to “thee good ole days” unless it receives a heart transplant.

So............roll up a chair, put your feet up, grab a brewski if you’re so inclined, and enjoy one of the best forums on the world wide web.

Game sites, software forums, AVS etc etc..all follow the same pattern. Part of the purpose is to poison the well so that it looks like no one is interested in the other products. For those that have the knowledge continuing to post at AVS is important in the long run to counter the FUD.

Yeah, I know, I know but it sure it getting to be a pain in the arse.

I mean everything is stacked against the Blu-ray folk over thar from the “rule-setters” on down to the mob mentality of the HD DVD crowd infecting every thread that threatens their format’s existence……as if HD DVD is not already a dead man walking.

I’m just damn glad this forum exists to rest my ole bones.

Well guys, please welcome another AVS refugee.

I ran a poll over there and said "Which format do you *HOPE* will win?? And guess what ?? HDDVD won that poll by almost 3 to 1 !!

The thing that bugs me over there is that are clearly a lot of HDDVD shills, who are out to spread as much FUD as possible and confuse legit folks who are looking for answers.

It is a sad state of affairs over there. I got a nasty PM and my post pulled for simply refuting what some clown said, that I knew to be complete fiction.

Oh well, they get the same crap in the projector section. If you do not want a RS-1 you are an idiot.

I look forward to reading and posting here in relative safety!!

When will Star Wars and LOTR be on blu-ray? I want it now. LOL just kidding. I know what you mean. Someone asks daily about these titles. Won't happne for a year or more would be my guess....

Tell me about it. I've been repeating the 360 failure rate is massive for a very very long time now because I knew it was the case based on those folks around me and their experiences. Against an army of sockpuppets and trolls and teams working together to explain it away as bull. Distorting every fact, derailing threads, etc. Ironically if the trash talking, FUD spreading bots hadn't have made up the level of lies and misinformation about the PS3 to the extent they did I never would have bothered to be so dogged in response. But at some point wrong is just f****** wrong. Sony and MS can kiss my a** to certain degrees but damn the PS3 is the kind of quality and craftsmanship every mfg should aspire to and consumers should demand from them. And that's not being a Sony fanboy - it's just a fact of how damn well it's been built and thought thru.

Yeah I gave up in a few places as well once I realized some of the "PS3" gaming sites were bought and paid for in the same way. Every article was written with an undercurrent of doom and gloom regardless of facts. Headlines are written to put forward the worst possible angle. Facts deleted while out and out lies were supported. So I understand..but it's part of how it works to stifle voices. As you know the "mob" mentality is really a small number of people using multiple accounts etc to pretend the group is larger and shilling as fast as they can. Sad that the techniques used are about as anti-American as it comes...1984 tactics in full swing.

Wink

It's weird, I almost chose the HD DVD format but had a change of heart, last September. I did not want to pay $1000.00 for a Blu Ray player and decided to buy the software first, before buying the hardware. I bought an HD DVD movie and let it sit for about 10 days. After doing more reading and research, I decided to take the movie back, to the local Walmart, and picked up a Blu ray copy of the same movie. The hardware was still too expensive, so I started buying more Blu Ray movies on E Bay. I was able to add another dozen titles over the next few months. The price of Blu Ray movies were still relatively low at the start, with titles costing me anywhere from $8.00 to $15.00. After a while the prices started to increase, especially after the launch of the PS3. By the time early February rolled around, I was able to finally get a standalone Samsung BD P1000 for $400.00. I jumped on it and never looked back. When the HD DVD fanboys kept up their b.s. about $800.00 Blu Ray players, vs a $399.00 HD DVD, I kept on telling those in the same thread how much I paid for my Blu Ray. I continued to get challenged on that price, so I kept posting the E Bay transaction number. After that I became an enemy of the HD DVD crowd and was attacked, every time I posted something on AVS. It seems like they have HD DVD collaborators that just dispute everything good that the Blu Ray community posts. It's nice to kiss them goodbye and save my late nights for enlightened discussion, instead of defence and one-upmanship.
