I love this movie, don't know what you haters are talking about. For the time it came out, the effects were wonderful and imaginative. Hell, they are better than many films these days. The new DC was very good, I can take either one though as they are both great films.

I found someone that was nice enough to lend me the director's cut of this movie. I am looking forward to watching it.

I would very much like to see Legend on blu-ray and hopefully soon. With all 3 versions of the movie. A 3 disc set would be cool!

I agree.

This movie is an 80s fantasy film masterpiece. Everything about this film is a work of art. And there is no way that a film this dark would be released for children nor rated PG.

Everyone was good in this film - the score, the goblins, the imagery, Cruise, Sara, the actor from the Tin Drum, and Tim Curry. What's a fantasy film with awesome acting? I see no difference in Tom Cruise/Sara's acting than any other young protagonist from any children's fantasy film.

Cruise was meant to be this idyllic, pure free spirit. Obviously he was still learning the craft but he wasn't "horrible."

I only saw the Director's Cut, and it's a very weird movie. I'm meh on it. Darkness is great though. I would have liked to hear Tangerine Dream's score. I love the '80s synth scores; so much more original than the overdone strings and percussions we're so used to.

Really really liked this movie when I was younger. I actually own it on DVD but I'm not sure I ever watched it. I need to watch it again and see how it holds up.

And yes, I remember Tim Curry being totally bad@ss as Darkness.

I saw this for the first time when I was a kid on tv. About two years ago I came across the "Ultimate Edition" DVD and had to pick it up. Comes in a nice packaging, liked the way they did the clear lifted cover with Ridley's autograph image and the little stone-like shaped image of Tom and Sara in the grip of the Lord of Darkness in the background on the actual casing.

It was the second movie we were watching, and maybe some of the alcohol played a factor , but I really enjoyed the director's cut. The visuals are awesome, as you would expect from Ridley Scott, and I agree about wanting this on blu.

I'd love to have this on Blu-ray, sooner rather than later. I have the Ultimate Edition and it is a really great release. Hopefully the Blu-ray gets the same TLC, or at least carries over everything that was on that edition.

WHOA, a little over $4000 for the life size bust and $800 for shipping on Ebay! And unless you live in Australia, you're not going to be able to save on shipping by dropping by in person.

I really like your first link to the full 24" figure of Darkness, but even at $350, there's just too many other things I would get at this point in my life. It would be nice when I get older and making some more money to have memorabilia like that among the shelves of discs.

i remember seeing this as a kid in grade 5

our teacher would have a movie day for the class (and i saw it a couple times on tv)

i remember hating the movie... finding it boring as heck but i was also scared silly by the "lord of darkness"

i watched it a couple more times on tv as i got older just to see the monsters they were made soooo well shame its mainly CGI these days i don't think they can match

This is one of the best fantasy movies ever made. Tangerine Dream's music makes it. I have the Ultimate Edition and I don't care for the Director's Cut, I just don't like it without TD's score. It needs to be on Blu now!

I'm surprised that a teacher would screen this for 10 year old students...I remember being that age and having already seen the film, but I wouldn't think the subject matter would be appropriate for a whole class of 5th graders on a school movie-day...

I loved the film as a kid, but it's one of those that I just lost interest in over time. I like both cuts of the movie (and musical scores), and while I find the DC an overall better presentation, I'm still partial to the Tangerine Dream score, since that's the soundtrack I experienced upon my initial viewing.

As for the movie itself, if there's one thing that continually annoyed me as I got older, it was the silly absurdness of Darkness' minions (Blix, Pox, & Blunder)...it makes the movie (which thrives in its dark moments) too difficult to take seriously.

Another thorn for the production in my opinion, was Ridley Scott's inability to make up his mind as to what he wanted with the film. It's really a shame, because had it been done right, this film could've been a masterpiece. Instead, it's pretty much a mess, just like "Blade Runner" and "Gladiator" in my opinion...

I have to say that I actually preferred Tangerine Dream's score on this.

And Tim Curry is phenomenal as Darkness. Easily the greatest outfit ever made for a film. Makes me want to watch this movie again.
