Default What T2 should I get?

The 25GB 2006 release or the 50GB 2009 release?

Looking at these two screens the newer version looks like it has too much dnr?

2006

2009

Although the newer one does have a little more DNR, I didn't find it to be intrusive. The 2006 version has more edge enhancement and haloing and basically looks exactly the same as the Extreme DVD. I did a comparison and could barely tell a difference. The sound is also lossy on the 2006 release, with only DDEX and DTS-ES. Ultimately, I'd say get the Skynet Edition because the transfer looks fine and the DTS-HDMA audio is outstanding. It also trumps the 2006 in the extras department as well.

I have them both and would put their video quality on the same level. That said, I'd get the newer one simply because it has the extended cut, while the original release does not. It also has DTS-MA while the older version does not.

Although reviews don't mean everything. Check the review on this site. Both versions scored the same for video from the official reviewer. However, the video score from users on the site here got a much higher score for the Skynet edition than the original release. I'd take that into serious consideration since it's an average of a lot of reviews put together. General user reviews seem to like the video quality of the Skynet edition better.

SkyNet Edition...The Extra Footage makes it Worth the Purchase.
Not to mention the SkyNet Version sports a 6-channel Audio Sound Track

Japanese U.E FTW!!
If you own the DVDs then you have the 2 extended scenes missing or u can wait for the 2.0 release of the Jap UE which has the 2 extra scenes and DTS instead of True HD.

Neither of the US releases are worth it.

Either the Japanese release mentioned in the previous post or the original UK release by Optimum (will play in US player):

Ill just go with the Skynet one which is region B from where I buy. The Japanese is too expensive.

you can't judge based on those photos because they were captured in 720p

Not to mention, they're still images. You can't judge a movies picture quality on a few still images.

Uhh I'd say so since its taken from the film itself. These are not images somebody has created out of thin air.

It's not gonna look exactly like that in motion. You're not going to be able to notice such subtle differences between the two when it's in motion. Of course you can now, because it's a still picture and you can sit and stare at both of them side by side for as long as you want.

Were the photos cleaned up at all for this comparison? You wouldn't think so, but how can anybody be sure, etc, etc....
