Although not really an arthouse movie, if you haven't seen it, consider A River Runs Through It (1992). It's simply a beautiful movie.

You should get Roman Polanski's Repulsion, it's on Criterion with a transfer that's about a billion times better than the original DVD release, and it's just a really great and creepy movie. Doesn't hurt that a young Catherine Deneuve plays the lead role either.
