Mwuhahaha, it's certainly a disappointment because the last half an hour was lame.

[Show spoiler]The development between Rogen, his friends and Aubrey Plaza was discarded and it became this ridiculous love triangle movie. Leslie Mann cheats on her husband, leads Sandler on and then goes back to him. It didn't make any sense.

I for one enjoyed the movie and thought it was a cool story but it definitely had potential to be a better movie and could have done with a bit more cutting. I won't be in a rush to pick it up any time soon.

im a big adam sandler fan, and i didnt go to see funny people in the theater, is it worth a blind buy?

Ummm no. It's a hit or miss. I know of a lot of people that loved it and others that hated it. Am still in between as I did like some of the character emotions coming from Sandler but for example his ex-wife played by Leslie Mann was super annoying, as well as the gags felt too overdone and unfunny most of the time.

I'd give it a rental first. It's definitely Appatow's most personal/serious movie to date. But I think he tried too hard and didn't hit the target. Well the box office gross results is a clear example that it basically had no audience. It didn't even surpass its production budget.

I saw it last summer and I am buying it on Tuesday. I really enjoyed Funny People. I am a fan of Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Adam Sandler, and the other actors Judd uses in his films. I am also a fan of standup comedy and this movie provides some good insight into the comedy business. The story is well written and moves along nicely.

If you like Apatow comedy mixed with how "Click" was funny and then a complete 180 into seriousness...then you'll like Funny People.

I really enjoyed the movie as well, but don't see myself buying a copy. Once you seen it once, it's hard to find the time to watch it again. That's why I don't have much comedy movies in my collection, unless it's a classic comedy flick.
