i do find it annoying. sometimes if i am short on time or close to bedtime i will pull out a movie and see 140 on it. Since its late at night and i am usually a bit tired i sometime think ok i can see this movie before bedtime as its 1:40 long. So used to seeing time in hours:minutes that my mind when tired or distracted sometimes puts the ":" in there. Next thing i know its past midnight and i am like WTF and realize its 140 minutes and i estimated wrong. By that time its too late, i watch the rest of the morning and then barely pull myself out of bed in the morning for work.

What annoys me more than anything else is the use of the word "Approx" when they list the runtime on Blu-ray (and DVD, ftm) keepcases. Look, studios, this ain't exactly "Rocket Science" we're talking here.
If a movie on Blu-ray/DVD is 120 minutes long, then what's "approximate" about the time listing? Last edited by Blu-Moon; 09-28-2009 at 05:03 PM. |

I don't mind it just because I'm used to it now, but for longer movies like 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button', it can be a bit annoying. For that movie though I already knew how long it was. For the most part I can figure it out. And remember that the credits are included.

Although, the original topic of run time in minutes does not seem like a big deal. I think it would be quicker to just glance and see hours and then minutes. Is reading it in minutes a big deal? No. But, I think it makes more sense to have it listed in hours followed by minutes.
