Why did you have to pay an ETF for an upgrade? Did they give you a new number by any chance? If so, I probably know what happened.
Never never never never NEVER go to an indirect unless you absolutely can't avoid it. They're shady as hell. |

Yeah, because it happens to everyone . . . that's why so many people still have them and keep buying new ones. Sounds like it's the fault of a shady dealer.

Yep.
I've seen some shady US online dealers actually put a clause similar to this in their online purchase agreement: "You agree to pay a $250 fee if you choose to exchange (unless defective) or return your equipment. You also agree to pay the fee if you change your price plan or suspend your service for any reason within the first six months." I kid you not. So if you need to exchange the phone for another model, you pay $250. Or if the price plan you choose at the time of online checkout is not right for you, you end up paying that $250 fee. And its not just online dealers. One of my friends worked for an authorized dealer who did the same thing (she has since moved to the corporate stores) and she would mention that fee rather quickly so the customer would not have time to process it. |

I don't think he was trying to pull a fast one on me, to be honest. I've known the guy for 5 years, and I've never heard even a small complaint about him.
Maybe it was an error when keying in my new data plan and stuff, I don't know. I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt in that regard. However, he will have to rectify my situation, because it is not acceptable to me. I'll be going in this morning to addres the situation and report back here later to let you know the outcome. John |

Your getting the "Rogers" been with them for XX years "special". I F*ckin hate Rogers! I've been with Fido for years (even though they are rogers now, but before they were bought out). My cell phone plan currently is City Fido -- $35. And not the City Fido they have now, I have unlimited talk anytime anywhere, anyplace from Pickering to Hamilton. Also 40 bucks for 6 gigs a month. I don't understand how they charged you that much.

So I had a chat with the manager at Wireless Etc (within Costco) and explained what happened. Told him that everything with regard to the change of plan, the cancellation fee of my old plan, etc, was fine and I take no issue with any of the charges.
I then said "But I do take issue with Rogers charging me the full price of the phone at $275, when it was supposed to be $79!". He kinda looked at me and started shaking his head. He replied: "You know John, this is about the 10,11 or 12th time this has happened within the last 2 weeks whenever their is a change of plan with an upgrade!" He said I'll fix it for you...come back in 30 minutes. No sooner than 10 minutes goes by and he pops his head into the office and says: DONE! He produced a revised copy of my billing statement and said your balance has been reduced accordingly. Phew! What a relief! I asked him why this his happening, and he told me honestly that he didn't exactly know, but it is only happening with upgrades, not end-of-term renewals and new customers. And it is happening at lots of places. Anyway, my situation has been resolved satisfactorily and I'm very pleased about that , as you can well imagine! John |
