I do not know a single person with Blu-Ray. I try to persuade them to buy a player, but apparently $150 is too expensive.

Wal Mart had one for $99 for a while, it's a no brainer if you ask me. But then again, lots of people don't care that much anyways.

When my wife and I had a baby, our disposeable income spending changed. Booze, protein, and gym fees changed to BD's. All of our old friends don't even know what BD's are.

My father is the only one I know with a PS3/blu-ray. My friends could really careless about buying DVDs let alone another "more expensive" format. Actually most of my friends are enjoying my DVD collection. When I upgrade various movies on BR, I've been giving my DVDs to friends and family members.

its kinda cool having the exclusivity as i do.

my brother down the hall also has a big tv, and collects some blu rays but its one of those "lending" situations, him and his gf would come in my room and snag true blood season 1, or band of brothers, and i wasn't cool with that.... AT all.

so i bought a lock and now he rents them from me

i was like dude....i bought band of brothers for 55$, your just going to take it in there and watch it for free? pshhh. call it selfish, call it what you want, but i dont pay all that money just for people to freeload off my stash. but thats another story for another thread

Thumbs up

I don't know a single person who owns a blu-ray player or a PS3. I know some people who are on the fence but haven't taken the plunge.

None of my friends or relatives have Bluray and I hope it stays that way. I hate lending out my collection to people especially ones that take a long time to return it and you have to ask for them back repeatedly. Also what I hate are the cheapskate that keep borrowing and never buy something themselves so I can borrow from them. They watch movies free by borrowing from others.

Now they are not able to borrow anything muhahaha.

I have two friend with Blu-ray, one is still using a HTiB and another is still using the speakers from his TV. I have another friend with a better audio set-up, but he hasn't gone Blu yet. He is interested though and has watched a few with me.

I know what some of you are saying about loaning movies and I did lose "HOUSE- Season 1" that way, but I trust Sara. She's one of those people who would pull a gun on you if you scratch a disc of hers.

I have given my friends some of my DVDs, her included. As a matter of fact. She bought 8 of my 10 Star Trek films (she already owner Motion Picture and First Contact) since I would be getting the Blu-ray, and is now borrowing the Blu-rays. LOL.

She is on the fence about rebuying movies and I can't blame her. It gets expensive. I know I've sold films away but then rent the BD through NetFlix. Of course things like Batman Begins, Transformers, etc... that she owns on DVD, I can loan her the disc and why should she have to buy them. I'll start borrowing from her next week when she finishes Snow White.

Of course now I'm in trouble. I had a deal with her going for movies with DVD copies. She would buy half and keep those versions... Now... ha ha

EDIT: She fell in love with the idea of getting Blu-ray after watching my copy of Casino Royale at my house. She spotted an ant walking near 007's foot as he comes into view in the final shot

A buddy of mine (who isn't that close of a buddy since last night was the first time I had been in his house) also has a Blu-ray....... but I didn't know it until LAST NIGHT!

So, I call him up towards the end of the game last night and ask him if he wants to play some foosball, and he says sure..... I tell him we'll meet up with a couple of other guys, and I'll pick him up since he lives close......

I get there (I had dropped him off at night before etc... ) and he said "I'm not ready yet, come in" so I do..... Here's what I find....

His living room has a projector of some sort, projecting onto a plain white wall (no border etc....) and he has a JVC HTIB set-up..... with wires EVERYWHERE...... and I'm thinking "MAN this is one messed up setup!" but I'd never say anything, because people can do what they want for all I care.....

THEN I SEE IT...... he has a Samsung BD player (no idea what model it was) and I say.... "you have Blu-rays?" I probably wouldn't have asked if it was a PS3, because I'd just assume he used his ghetto setup for games.... but he says "yeah, they're in here" He opens a door into a spare bedroom (I'm assuming it's a spare bedroom since it didn't have a bed or any furniture in it) and there they are....... Blu-rays..... LOTS of Blu-rays. I asked how many were there (while adding my own guess) and he said he had somewhere between 800 and 900 at last count....... HOLY COW..... I hang out with the guy a couple of times a week for the last 2 years or so, and never knew..... but I don't go out to talk about Blu-ray (I go out to play in Foos tournaments) so why would I

Anyways.... I then got a chance to see the guys 5 cars (I knew he had 5 because I had asked him why he didn't park in his garage when I dropped him off one night!) which included everything from an H1 to a Prowler........

I told him if he ever needs help building a theater, to give me a call

He's the only one I know of that has Blu-ray, and most of my friends have told me they "plan" on it though...... and of course some say they don't have any interested......

I have a number of friends who are blu.

When I find out someone has an HDTV - I always recommend they go blu - to get the most out of their TV.

I think I've influenced at least 4 people to go blu.

DVD is so outdated (and ugly)!

:-)

Two years of being Blu-ray at UM and nobody had it. One month at FIU for grad school and I've met about 4 people already. Whoo!

I've had Blu-ray for about 2 years now. None of my family or friends have it. Besides my Dad, they don't see or hear the difference...

At least my parents have an HDTV with an HD signal. My sister on the other hand...HDTV no HD signal...looks like crap lol blah

I started the blu-ray trend in my group of friends. I have 6 people I know that have PS3's and some blu-rays (definitely not as much as me).

I'm probably going to get my mom one for Christmas as well, considering she bought a TV recently that's better than mine

One of my best friend's shares my love for Film/Movies and we love to check out new releases in theaters. He also comes over once a week and we watch a couple of movies at my place. He has admitted to me that he loves watching Blu's at my place. He appreciates the superior PQ and AQ, but for the life of me I cant get him to convert!!!

He still buys DVD's on a regular basis and pays ridiculous amounts of money for the new releases (ie. 27.99, 29.99 FOR DVD!!!). His reason for not converting is that he would rather leave his house to watch movies, ie. Movie Theater, my place. I just don't get it!

I couldn't imagine not having my own HT or PS3 to enjoy my BD's on.

I don't know a soul with blu-ray. I don't even know anyone who is considering it or acts even remotely interested when I suggest it. I enjoy it though.

There are so many MIA cd's and dvd's that I've lost due to "lending out"...I really don't have any friends who are into blu-ray. Ya...they have a ps3 but mostly for games. It would be hard to refuse a friend if they asked to borrow one. I guess I could sarcastically say " you scratch it, you buy it!"

That drives me crazy. Sometimes...I've had to physically pick up the movie because they were too lazy or kept forgetting.
