Yeah, for some reason they seem to have been the first to get a review up... Not sure why... It would be one thing if they said they didn't like it or something, but to say the picture hasn't changed from the previous Blu-ray? That's just crazy...

I would imagine that once people see your comparison pics, this reviewer's credibility, if he ever had any, will be shot. As someone who reads reviews from time to time, I hate discovering such shoddy and irresponsible critiques.

This is still a relatively young community. I think we'd all like to get behind the idea of the studios going back to print with better quality releases. There's no need to spread such BS around as it works against this objective and risks making some of its viewers and reviewers appear like morons.

Ordered it from Amazon ca, hope it gets here quickly

Is there a way to tell if it's VC-1 or AVC when I get it?

Some players will display the video codec when you click a 'info' or 'display' button on your remote...

The easiest way to tell what version it is though is just watch when the menu loading icon appears. If it appears right when you put the disc in (before any video plays), it's the AVC version. If all the trailers play first, and you get the loading icon after the Battle for Terra trailer, it's the VC-1 version.

I went to Wal-Mart today and they had a price tag on the shelf for the new Stargate 15th Anniversary Edition for $22.83. The bad part was that the shelf was empty. I thought they sold out so I went to another Wal-Mart. They had the same price tag but they put the old version of Star Gate on the shelf. So either both Wal-Marts sold out, or they have to put them on the shelves, or they were planning a shipment and they never got them.

I decided to order my copy of the movie from Amazon.ca. They said they have stock, so I'm guessing they have the Lionsgate version from the US. Anyone have their copy ship?

Won't have it until end of this week or beginning of next

Will post my findings as soon as I watch it, unless some one beats me to it.

Got my copy of Stargate: 15th Anniversary today. It is indeed the one with the Maples logo on it ( and bi-lingual cover ), so I imagine all the stores are getting their stocks today.

Now for some bad news:

I've tried three copies of the new Stargate 15th Anniversary edition and none of them will play the movie. (two bought at Best Buy and one bought at Future Shop)

My BDP-S350 player has the latest firmware version (020).

Anybody else having a problem playing this title ????????????

If not, where did you buy your copy ??????

I got mine at Futureshop, but I'll have to check tonight after work as I believe I have the same player as you.

SYBER:

Just to be clear about what I experienced, the three copies will play the promos and display the home menu; however, when you choose either version of the movie, the player won't start the movie.

Please try your copy and let us know the outcome.

Just curious, does the menu loading icon come up before the Lionsgate logo, or after the Battle for Terra trailer?

The Battle Of Terra trailer is just before the main menu.

The loading icon (which in this case is represented by a globe) was extremely brief, more like a flash. That looked suspicious because normally like Liongate's T2 it lasts for quite awhile as the disc is loading.

One more thing that I found was the ability to move through the scene selection BUT as soon as you choose a scene, the player will not play the scene. Stopping the player was the only way to proceed.

Before anybody suggests it's the BD player, I also purchased FORREST GUMP and LOVE ACTUALLY and neither of those titles had any problems.

The LIONSGATE logo is the first thing that you will see and is it ever loud.

popped mine it and it works fine, although I do have the BDP-S360. both versions of the movie play and I can select any scene and continue from it...pip works. the loud logo you mentioned.... mine was normal volume. i also had no load globe as you did...pic went black for 1/2 second, played the hulk trailer.. then the title menu came. up its possible you have a firmware issue as other discs play fine.

SYBER:

Can you try playing the movie BUT press your NEXT button repeatedly to skip over all of the previews and go directly to the MAIN MENU.

Thanks
