Post Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition: October 27, 2009

All right here:

Stargate:15th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray

I have since sold the Blu-ray of the original release, but now I just might get this one since the disc sports not only the extended cut of the film (which is already on the original release), but also the original theatrical version as well! I actually can't wait for this one!

Great news!,if they only would re-issue "Crash" and the "Punisher"(2004) the same way!

I bought this for $9.99 not too long ago and it's been sitting on the shelf, still in the plastic...I may just return it and wait for the anniversary edition...

It comes out in October, not December. Hence the title of this thread.

Jeez... this would be like my... 2nd... 3rd... 4th dip on this title, I believe. I remember having the original DVD release that required you to flip the disc, and a couple of special editions, plus the Blu-ray since then. When will it stop?!?!?!?

That said, I <3 this movie. I'd get it for the extended cut.

Actually, if you have it on Blu-Ray already, you have the extended cut... The addition of the theatrical cut is what's new on this one... (And the extras)

I also already bought the original blu-ray release. Not very excited about the inclusion of the theatrical cut but more interested in the fact that they'll do a complete remaster. The original blu wasn't all that great in the PQ department, so I just might double dip of the quality is noticeably improved.

I remember going to the Movie Theater to see StarGate when it was first released in the Theater.I Loved the Movie without question.

I bought it on VHS and LaserDisc when they were first released.I also bought 2 different Standard DVD Versions as well(I should take some time and watch an episode or 2 of one of the TV Series).

But this newest version turns into a Must Have, with the inclusion of a 7 channel Surround Sound track.I hope the Picture and Audio Quality are a noticeable upgrade then the ones on the $9 Blu Ray Version.

But I would think at least the Audio Track would be upgraded with the 7 channel track.
Thanks for bringing me some good news with this thread everyone..

No doubt, love the cover art. This'll be an easy upgrade from DVD for the audio track alone

And perhaps most importantly, the new release will have better quality image compression and audio. The current disc is bettered by the European release and even that one isn't great.

Good to see Lionsgate rereleasing some early BD's. With next year being Total Recall's 20th anniversary, I suppose we'll get a new remastered version of that as well.

Yeah, definitely better picture and audio quality... Worth the upgrade for that alone.

This was the first title I saw on Laserdisc. I have bought this movie way too many times. Going to be one more too.

Atlantis is another story. The show was filmed with HD broadcasts in mind from the get-go and such I'm baffled MGM announced that all we'll get on blu-ray is the fans' choice disc.
Not entirely, just the first 5 seasons for SG-1, but that's enough to make it not happen. Especially that is the entirity of the SG-1 series to alot of people . Atlantis was actually supposed to be released on Blu back when Sony was doing the disc releases for Atlantis initially, but really there wasn't enough market support for BD at that time, so guessing it fell through. Now SGU may benefit, but *shrug* time will tell.
