I bought Josie and the P_ssycat's album after I rented the movie. Oddly, the only way to get Dujour's music on the Josie album. I can't believe there are no copies of Dujour albums left. I should have bought them after MTV announced their death.

Wow! The dirty word filter is strict.

Here's the receipt. Either Tarantino lied, or they later changed the name to the Royale Deluxe.

So you ate a Big Mac, Quarter Pounder w/Cheese, a Coke, and fries? That's an impressive meal!

Haha, no. I only had the Quarter Pounder. My girlfriend had the Big Mac. The McDonalds happened to be near the train station, so we stopped in for some quick food, then caught our train back to London.

If I had more time, I would've sat down and enjoyed 5 or 6 of them, just to take in the experience.

I got sick of Big Macs in high school. They offered a 2 Big Macs for $2 deal a couple times per week, and there was a McDonalds a couple blocks down the road from my high school. So we always skipped out of school to go there for lunch, and I'd often feel like throwing up/taking a nap after quickly eating 2 Big Macs (so that we could get back to school and sneak back in in time for our next class).

Godfather makes me crave oranges.
Did Coppala have stock in Sunkist?
Not really.

Scotch is the one thing I'll get up and pour, when I see someone on screen swirling a glass of it.

On SONY DVD releases, it kept telling me to buy Blu-ray. Guess what? I got a Blu-ray player. It rocks.

When I was in France a few years back, it was a Royale.

I would have to agree with the E.T. Reese's pieces thing I will never turn them down.

The best product placement ever though is the following.

Benjamin: Wayne! Listen, we need to have a talk about Vanderhoff. The fact is he's the sponsor and you signed a contract guaranteeing him certain concessions, one of them being a spot on the show.

Wayne Campbell: [holding a Pizza Hut box] Well that's where I see things just a little differently. Contract or no, I will not bow to any sponsor.

Benjamin: I'm sorry you feel that way, but basically it's the nature of the beast.

Wayne Campbell: [holding a bag of Doritos] Maybe I'm wrong on this one, but for me, the beast doesn't include selling out. Garth, you know what I'm talking about, right?

Garth Algar: [wearing Reebok wardrobe] It's like people only do these things because they can get paid. And that's just really sad.

Wayne Campbell: I can't talk about it anymore; it's giving me a headache.
Garth Algar: Here, take two of these!

[Dumps two Nuprin pills into Wayne's hand]
Wayne Campbell: Ah, Nuprin. Little. Yellow. Different.

Benjamin: Look, you can stay here in the big leagues and play by the rules, or you can go back to the farm club in Aurora. It's your choice.

Wayne Campbell: [holding a can of Pepsi] Yes, and it's the choice of a new generation.

And on the subject of Mike Myers ambiguously embracing and parodying plugs at the same time, there's always the first Austin Powers, and Bob's Big Boy restaurants--
In a way, they've never left, offering the same high-quality meals at competitive prices.

I too looove Reese's Pieces. This was the king of product placement. Perhaps I'm wrong (it has been a while) but as I recall Reese's Pieces were a new product that wasn't necessarily promoted through E.T., but actually launched through its appearance the movie.

And as far as product placement goes, I fell like a sucker for the Audi S8 featured in Ronin. No, I can't afford one, but I did talk my old man into buying one. He's now driving his third A8L.

From wikipedia:

E.T. product placement

Quote:
Steven Spielberg originally approached Mars with the idea of product placement of M&M's in his 1982 movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Mars declined the offer. Spielberg later approached the Hershey Chocolate Company, who turned down the idea of using their flagship product Hershey's Kisses but chose to use Reese's Pieces instead. Immediately after the movie was released, sales of Reese's Pieces increased by 65%.[1][2]

Hershey's took a large risk in licensing the product, as Universal Studios refused to allow Hershey's to see the script; all it was allowed to know was a basic plot synopsis and that the alien was a friendly creature. Hershey's was given permission to utilize images during a time window of about six to eight weeks during the film's release date. In return for a relatively small sum of approximately $1 million USD, Hershey's reaped well over $15 million dollars in free advertising for the then languishing product .

That's funny.......all the times I've seen it lately, I crave Pizza Hut.

(In some versions, Taco Bell has been replaced by Pizza Hut. Some international regions don't know what Taco Bell is so the film makers had to replace it with a brand they do know of.)

A lot of people complain about product placement, but I think in a lot of movies it actually enhances the realism of the piece as of course we live in a world of name branding.

My favourite piece of product placement has to be in REPO MAN (well all over that movie actually):
