I normally choose the movie I haven't watched in the longest time. When I had a small collection, it was easy to watch all my movies within a year. Now, sometimes I don't get around to watching them after a long while and I miss it, so I put it in. There are exceptions for:

My absolute favorites I try to watch once a year

Any series that has a new sequel getting released

Holiday movies (christmas, etc.)

I don't choose the movie, the movie chooses me.

The viewer don't pick the movie, the movie pick the viewer.....

When I see quotes or hear quotes that remind me of certain movies I would want to watch the movie they are from, if I had Transformers on Blu, I would watch it, but I only have in on DVD, BLEH!

Also, strange desires come up during the week to watch a movie on the weekend, during the week I watch bits and pieces of what I have recently bought. A number of factors affect my decision. If I had a big enough Blu collection for alphabetizing, lets just say that would be amazing. Someday...... sigh

I would say it really depends on the mood that I am in.
Then it also matters whether I have some new movies that I have either not seen, yet or new releases, which I usually watch first.

I have some Netflix movies here that are laying around for at least a month and I just did not feel like watching them yet.

BTW I am using Profiler as well, for like 5 years now. Really great program to keep track of everything, plus it lets you personalize to your needs...

It varies for me...mood, time of day, if my roommate is home or not (she hates loud movies). So for example I will not watch a horror movie if there is still sunlight or I would not throw in say The Incredible Hulk or The Matrix if she is home, something like Forrest Gump or The Girl Next Door would be best suited if she is home. It all depends.
