Every other time this has been happening to me also...But it ends up finally coming thru. i was going back and forth with 2 controllers then one finally connected....Wonder if this will be the norm or will they fix it with a update next time around?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one getting this since 3.10. Oddly enough, it only seems to affect my PS3 Slim. My Fatty is unaffected.

When it happens, my Bluetooth remote doesn't work, either. I suspect 3.10 botched something up with the Bluetooth host controller, and that's what is causing this hiccup.

Turning it off, and then back on again, seems to fix it.

You can report the issue to Sony HERE. Squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Yeah, I mostly use the slim w/ the 2 old sixaxis controllers because they're lighter and I hate rumble; fiance uses the fat with the new dualshock 3 controller that came with the slim. He hasn't had any problems synching.

---------------------

For the last couple days, I've been trying to remember to turn it on using the console's power button. When I do remember to do it that way, the controllers have synched just fine.

Hey Stephie,

Is it recommend that you turn the power off and on in the back or in the front? I mostly did it in the back and it was only after my YLOD I heard that I probably should of done it in the front (btw, most fans will block the front and ONLY allow shut off in the back), Is this really good for the system. What if your power goes out, wouldn't that mess it up? Just wondering. Thanks for the replies.

If you use a surge protector (not a power strip) you'll be covered during a power outage and won't need to use the switch in back.

FYI, the slims don't even have a switch in back, so it's probably not needed anyway.

Cool. I have a 500gb slim on the way but because of work schedule, and my fear of the new firmware messing with my system again ( I still think that MIGHT have had something to do with it- with ALL the complaints over this latest update) I probably wont be on for a couple of weeks. Oh, and then I have my vacation time coming up.

Seems like the problem is only the combination of FW 3.10 + slim + old Sixaxis controllers. You shouldn't have problems using the new Dualshock 3 that comes with it as your main controller. For any others, just turn the console on before the Sixaxis.

Yeah, my old Sixaxis controllers don't work - my rumbles work fine (with my slim).

I'm talking about other problems too (trophy sync, psn being down alot, bluetooth headsets not working, etc.) and I've actually read im not the only one who got a YLOD RIGHT after this update in fact there is a list with DOZENS of PSN users affected by the update on the official sony boards. This is the worst FW update yet and needed way more testing before release. My situation was funny as I had shut my psn down in the early evening one night, didn't touch it on at all during the night, woke up the next morning and turned it on, and BAM). I'm best just taking my vacation time and then seeing what is up with everything. I can wait until after Dec. 10 (it's not THAT far away). If it saves me "possibly" YLOD'ing my brand new slim (and people have bought brand new slims only to have it YLOD on them just weeks later sad to say) it's worth it.

Oh and my local "I hate customer services drones" story of the day: the people at Fry's told me there are no fans out for the PS3 Slim? I did research on them the night before, and THERE ARE just way LESS then the # of fans there are for the phat. and you better BELIEVE I'm getting one before I even turn my slim on for the first time because of this. I didn't want to argue so I just left but it's REALLY said that the uneducated consumer could be so easily swayed in the wrong direction because of these goons.

I had that problem a while ago. After I was watching some of my Japanese videos, I tried to go back to the XMB, but it wouldn't work. I couldn't turn on the PS3 with either my controller or my remote. I did get it to work again after a short while. I'm not sure what my current firmware is, but tomorrow morning I will check.

My problem is with a slim and the DS3 that came with it (plus my Socom BT headset). And unlike others here, my BD Remote works great and I have to power the system on with the DS3 PS button. Using the power-on button on the front of the PS3 will not allow the DS3s to sync and will require plugging them in to the USB ports to work.

I've experienced the same problem with my controller. The only way that I have been able to get around it is simply by turning on my slim manually from the console and then turning my controller on. That seemed to work for me over trying to turn the console on via controller.
