Wow, didn't know you could order straight from Warner. Now that's another great way to send a message. Heck I love some of these ideas here. Maybe I'll treat a couple buds and hook them up with a copy. Speaking of friends, I am very proud of myself -- one of my friends had one of those low end Toshiba HD DVD players on hold last night. It's ok everyone, I talked him off the cliff last night and he's picking up a PS3 tomorrow! To thank him for saving his own life, maybe I'll buy him a copy of 300 too.

It's a toss up for me as to whether or not I'd like for my 2 copies of 300 to hit the registers of Best Buy, Amazon or direct to Warner ...hmmmmmmm

I preordered mine from WB as well over a month ago... but yesterday I saw something disturbing on their web site. Seems that they have changed their policy so that if you don't pay for expedited shipping, preorders arrive 5 to 7 days AFTER the street date. This is NOT what happened when I pre-ordered Battle of the Bulge from WB, they shipped it ground 8 days before the street date, so it got here on time (shipped on May 7, street date was May 15).

I called yesterday when I read that crap about paying extra for shipping, and they assured me that that was only for last minute buyers, but because I had ordered mine well over a month ago, I would get it on or about street date.

I got concerned and called back today, and was told that it was on "back order" So I not only canceled this order, but both my other pre-orders with Warner.

Seems pretty damn crappy to me that you order something well over a month early, but because you don't pay for expedited shipping (a cash cow for sellers) they penalize you and put your order in a back order status.

This is unmitigated crap, and I will be damned if I EVER order anything direct from WB again.

Sorry to hear that, is 300 the only thing you bought?

I spent over $60 so I have free shipping. I preorder Smallville Season 6 and 300 for $74.04 on July 5. My email came yesterday saying 300 was shipped. Tracking said they shipped it out on July 24.

Like I said, damn crappy way to treat customers... I ordered mine about 3 weeks before you, however, while I managed to get put into the backorder bin, they managed to find a copy to ship to you.

Retail sales are a HUGE profit margin for these companies, they get to keep the extra profit above what they normally make on wholesale, less any overhead costs for the sales themselves, and by outsourcing the storefront, they get to keep even more of that difference.

But nope, no more business from me, they will have to settle for the lower profit margins from selling them wholesale to whoever I buy it from retail.

I'm buying it on Tuesday. Funny story, I run a forum which is a local car club. And I posted that I was getting 300 on blu-ray and invited anybody to come over and watch it with me to see what blu-ray looks like and I already got 10 people comming over. I need a bigger house, lol.

Actually I MUST buy 300 next week because it's a kick-ass movie. Outselling HD-DVD has no real bearing on it for me.
