But it isn't, lol. Iron Man's more like $175-$200 these days; and that's not worth it. If I could get it for only $100, I probably would cave and do it.

My limit has been $50-$60 for an overseas Blu-ray Steelie, but that also depends on which ones they are. Some I won't pay that much for. For US and Canadian steelies, my limit hovers around the $30-$35 range. Other than the FS Iron Man blu-ray SteelBook, I don't personally care much for the supposed "must haves," the FS IAL, German Iron Man, or German Rambo. I was lucky enough to jump into BR back when Iron Man came out, and I picked up 2 copies. I liked Iron Man enough to know that I wanted the BR steelie; can't really say I felt the same way about IAL. I passed on the FS IAL since I wasn't going BR yet, and I picked up the dvd steelbook Best Buy had instead. Once I went blu, I decided I'd rather have the German IAL blu since I already have the dvd steelie. I held off buying it though 'cos of the triple digit prices. Since it's been reprinted, I've secured a copy via trade. I liked the background color scheme for the German Iron Man, but I hate the wording on his face, so I passed on it as well. I was also not getting duplicates of the same movie in steelbook then, even if the cases are different. Rambo never interested me at all, rare or not. I'm sure if I wanted any of the high dollar ones, I could come up with the funds to do it, but I'm not out to collect every single BR SteelBook, and I think if I actually did pay $100 or more on just one of them, it would actually make me feel sick each and every time I looked at it. I have no problem paying a premium for a steelbook on a movie I want to add to my collection. If I had $600 burning in my pocket, I'd rather spend it on all the 13 Disney steelbooks that came out, and all the other FS Steelies (Star Trek, Transformers 2, Inglorious Basterds, and maybe Angels and Demons) than spending it on 2 or 3 supposed "must haves." By the way, I think if I get Angels and Demons, then I will still be under that $600 pricepoint for 17 steelies added to my collection. 17 new additions to my little SteelBook familia sounds much nicer than 2-3 little ones. I guess if I didn't have the Iron Man BR Steelie, then I'd probably have to live with just the amaray release until I come across something I can pick up at a reasonable price that will eventually become equal to what Iron Man trades for. |

The day Ironman was released I reached the store late and never got a copy.
So I remember buying the Ironman steelbook FS one for $63 bucks of someone on HighDefDigest. At the time i thought holy crap that is so expensive. Now every time I pick up that blu-ray I smile since I know I bought it at the right time and was able to get one made me feel a bit better since I wasn't able to get it in-store In another instance I was at my local FS a few weeks after Indiana Jones KOTCS came out and I saw one in store. I didn't like the cover of it so I kept it back. I remember it was mint condition and had no scratches that most of the KOTCS copies nowadays have. Now look at the price that it is selling for. I do regret not picking it up. Especially since I held it in my hands and put it back on the shelf. My experience with blu-ray has taught me to get them while you can even if they are a little steep. After all you really can't put a price on a limited edition product. They are made once and that's it. The hardest part about being a collector is choosing when to buy and from where. I'm not like most people who have a limit around $60 - 75 I used to be like that but i think the Tiger syndrome has started kicking in. |

Had I been buying these things when Indiana Jones 4 came out, I certainly would've bought it; ugly cover or not. Iron Man I did look for on release day (as I love this movie; and knew that steelbooks were cool based on the couple DVD ones I had), but not knowing how fast these tended to sell out I missed it and just picked up the amaray instead. Back then I never considered bothering to buy it off eBay. I'm sure the chance to buy it will come around again, though... whether Best Buy issues it when the sequel hits theatres, or Future Shop re-issues it for the same reason... or some future event. But I won't be paying $200 for it. Except when they're made the second time, in the case of some German ones, lol. Last edited by TM2-Megatron; 12-18-2009 at 09:01 AM. |

That actually looks really cool. Time to look for one i guess.
You are also missing the german SB of Iron-man.. not sure if that should form part of the collection as it appears your collection pertains mostly to NA releases but i personally think the cover looks better than the FS one. |

If you want an FS IAL, or FS Iron Man, or the original Rambo, you are going to pay more than $100 for it plain and simple. I had the first 2, but I wanted a Rambo so I paid for it and I have never, well okay almost never, given it a second thought. If you want it, go get it. If you feel it is too expensive, then decide not to buy it and stick to it because thay are only going to go up in value, probably, so if you are wavering on it, you might just end up spending more later on for it. Cheers and good luck CrashKelly |

While I would love to get Iron Man and I Am Legend, I can't bring myself to spend over $100 on them.
Maybe back in the day when I was living with the parents and not paying for anything. I had excess cash from working and I was crazy into buying things. Now with being married/bills etc etc.. I'd rather keep the money for something else. The most I spend on a steelbook was $45 and I don't think I will cross the $50 mark. |
