This is a very underrated movie. I loved it, but I think it was a little to much for little kids to get and maybe why it failed at the box office. I would get it on blu-ray 1st day. Last edited by davidthenikonuser; 12-29-2009 at 10:13 PM. |

Love the soundtrack for that - still listen to it regularly.
It's not high art, but it was a good (and very underrated) little film. I would definitely pick it up on blu if the release it. |

It wouldn't take much to put together a respectable Blu-ray release of this film. The original computer files (I assume something similar to Disney's CAPS system was used to colour it) could be used to make a perfect transfer and there are some good bonus features that were already made for the previous DVD release. Someone at Fox just has to green light the idea. |

![]() Sorry, but what on earth is that supposed to mean? That only "perfect" movies can do Blu-Ray "justice"? Considering that everyone has a different likes and dislikes, there would be very few movies that would qualify for Blu-Ray. (Even Citizen Kane has its detractors.) Or do you mean that it will not look "good" enough? Does that mean that only movies with "perfect" picture quality are acceptable for Blu-Ray? That would disallow some the of greatest movies ever made. Blu-Ray is the medium, not the message. The goal with a Blu-Ray release should be to do justice to the original film, good, bad, 70mm, or 16mm. Some of my favorite Blu-Ray discs to date have been for underappreciated low-budget films like John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13. On Blu-Ray, the movie looks as good as it possibly can (and better than any other version of the film that I have seen.) It will never look like Transformers, but it will always be a vastly superior film. Regarding Titan: AE, while it may not be a masterpiece, I have always thought that it was underrated, and it would be fun on Blu-Ray. In fact, it could make some very strong demo material. |

The first time I saw it, I was completely amazed by it's combination of animation and computer CGI, I thought it was a technical masterpiece. However I watched it again a couple of years ago and it did not aged very well, unlike the likes of Pixar or even some of the earlier Dreamworks movies, the CGI and 2D animation combination doesn't feel very novel today, and it looks more like a video game. The movie also had some rehashed storytelling and dull acting that didn't help. I would however like to see it on Blu Ray if they improved aspects of the aging animation.

Thanks for bravely trying to pro-spin the discussion off the movie's own crimes, but we're still talking about the genuine article, iff'n you don't mind. ![]() |

No, whatever flaws the animation has nothing to do with a movie doing Blu-Ray "justice." The point is that filmmaking flaws are irrelevant to whether or not a movie does "justice" to Blu-Ray. If anything, it is interesting to see how the extra detail allows the viewer to pick out flaws that have not been visible on DVD or VHS (things like supporting wires, for example.) In the case of animation, a movie like Snow White has some severe apparent "halos" around the characters that due to the quality of the animation (too many layers of cels.) Does that mean that it does not do Blu-Ray "justice"? No, it is a very worthy disc for any collection. Similarly, Fire and Ice is riddled with cel dirt from beginning to end that is a part of the production of the film. It was much less noticeable on DVD, but it stands out on Blu-Ray. Does that mean that it does not do Blu-Ray "justice"? Hardly. The improved level of detail, cel dirt and all, is excellent. To reduce your argument to an extreme, the CGI animation in the Star Wars prequels is unremittingly awful. It does not integrate well with the live action elements. Does that mean that the Star Wars movies will not do Blu-Ray "justice"? Once again Blu-Ray is the medium, not the message. It should reproduce the original film as accurately as possible, warts and all. In the case of Titan Quest, whether or not the animation is as flawed as you suggest is certainly open to discussion, but is not relevant to whether or not the movie deserves to be on Blu-Ray. |
