Or just buy a new 3D Bd player that has two HDMI outs like the new Panny 3D BD player coming out and you will be all set as well.

Yea at the moment that looks like the only 3D player to offer 2 outs. I would've thought the other manufacturers would've sussed this out.

Well in theory the 1.4 spec should also be backward compatible - so a 1.4 display should still be able to accept a 1.3 feed, and there should be enough bandwidth in the 1.3 spec to transmit the data required for 1080p images to each eye.

In theory of course.....

3D is the stupidest thing I have seen in years. Not because I do not enjoy 3D but because of the way it is being done. New TV, Receiver, Bluray player and dont forget the glasses.

Cant wait..... Hey guys Superbowl Party at my crib in 3D !!

Oh Shit really... Im so down !

Well Dont forget to stop by Best Buy and pick up a pair of you're very own shutter glasses cause I only have 3 !

Wait what ??
:rolleyes

This will be a HUGE failure, No doubt in my mind.

Yea I can't imagine it to be the most sociable option when inviting your mates round. Instead of bring a bottle, it'll be 'Bring some specs' !

We all hope! Of course your awesome setup doesn't have a long HDMI cable run so you could change yours in a minute.

I think that will still require a new player with dual outputs...and the television must be able to handle the bandwidth (still an open question for legacy sets, including every one currently on the market).

Why would you need dual outputs if you're using a splitter ? The use of a splitter is only to eradicate the need for a new HDMI 1.4 AV Receiver.

Obviously you'll still need a 3D capable display and source device capable of outputting 3D content.

I agree - if the signal is 1080p48 and the PS3 can already output 1080p60 then there shouldn't be an issue.

I haven't read anything, but it must be something capable of deconstructing to a 1080p48 signal you'd think?

The HDMI spec will have security issues...but then, broadcast may allow fiddling with it via component or something.

I haven't seen anything on broadcast yet, that isn't anaglyph.

That's probably how it will play out.
