Across the Universe...Bono and circus tent scene (w/ Eddie Izzard). that was off-the-chain weird.

"weird" to most, is a "gem" to me. what does that say about me?

that scene? it was too weird (even for me)...which is WEIRD

the movie? loved it. mainly, b/c of the imagery, which was just unsurpassed and gave my brain a delightful feast. the plot was slow and only in the second hour did it take off, but ended up being good. however, in the end, it was the music combined with the insane imagery that sold me. if a film meets the "have never nor will ever see another like it" test, i'll probably love it

Though it is one of my favorite movies of all time, I think Blue Velvet is a very strange movie with very, very strange sequences. Most notably every scene with Dennis Hopper and Isabella Rossellini is very odd, but brilliant.

I think I'm the only one that didn't like it, all my friends did...
And that bolded part is that kind of thinking I love.
Lost Highway for example, I understand nothing about it, it's totally unique and it really confuses me but I love it.
Currently in my top 3.

yeah, i agree. haven't seen Lost Highway! Now you've sparked my interest!

one I would include in the same category as your Lost Highway is Last Year at Marienbad: didn't understand any of it. Yet, its in my top 25. In fact, turns out nobody was supposed to understand any of it, which makes the film even better: as in life, you dont get all the answers.

edit: oh and i forgot, another one of my all-time favs: Playtime definitely belongs in the discussion: "Weird to some, Gold to others"

Straight Into Darkness

What a confusing, mildly disturbing piece of crap! Makes no sense! Why, why, why

Oh well.. I'll watch it in school today - good for a laugh

Bummer...I was very entertained and was curious how this was thrown into a film.

1.) "Eraserhead"
2.) "The Naked Lunch"
3.) "Rubber's Lover"
4.) "Pinocchio 964"
5.) "FLCL" (if it can be considered a film. Otherwise...I don't know..."Weird Science"?)

They're all really incomprehensible and far-out, but I love 'em!

Just checked Last Year.. on IMDb, I want to see it!
And I remember your post about PlayTime in the foreign and classic thread that got me interested in it.
hopefully next year or this I can afford a region A (or free) player, it really sucks that CC is region A only. Too many interesting movies that are out of my reach.
The thing about me is that I love "intellectual" movies that doesn't necessarily make it easy for the audience to understand.
That doesn't mean I understand what the director want me to think or figure out.
Lost Highway I've seen 3 and a half times I haven't figured it out, I don't think I ever will
It's funny how you can tell it's a genious movie imo, without really understanding it.
