Yup, I guess it'll probably be a standard feature in the coming Blu-ray Disc players/recorders... However, I wanna know... Does this upconverted picture also gets downscaled because your display doesn't support HDCP?

HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc players will only output full-resolution signals using HDCP. If such a player is connected to a non-HDCP-enabled television set, the player will output a downsampled 540p signal.

Sorry.. But I'm quite p*ssed by this..

Why? This has been generally accepted as what would happen with HD for at least 3 years now. I know when I bought my projector 3 years ago with a DVI input it was an issue at that time.

Older TVs I guess people may have issues with... but anyone who buys a TV today and doesn't research it really only has themself to blame. Heck, Sylvania still sells a plasma without ANY digital input on it at all!

Not trying to knock you, just figure out why the industry doing exactly what was expected makes you upset.

Shame there isn't a display or projector that will accept a 1080p60 signal. The best so called 1080p sets canm do is to upconvert a 1080i60 signal into 1080p.

Of course you aren't including the HP right?

1080p displays we will see with 1080p acceptance this year more and more. It's not really typical for the A/V industry to let some upstart A/V company (HP) come in and steal their thunder.

I believe the newest Sony Ruby projectors include 1080p support as well.

I read in psm magazine last month that sony's first blu-ray player would retail for around $1300 at first, then as with most electronics, the price tag will eventually become more affordable. Although there unofficial and 100 percent independent, there sources are pretty reliable.

Is this definitely 1080p60? I've seen numerous sets/projectors that claim to be 1080p, yet they can only accept 1080i and scale up tp 1080p. Sony's $25,000 Qualaia SXRD projector calls itself a 1080p projector, only won't accept a 1080p60 signal. Any links to 1080p60 sets?

There is no TVs at this time that can accept 1080p60 via hdmi. HP has one that they claim does 1080p, but it is really 1080p at 24hz, not 60hz. Next generation of TVs shoulds support this and will probabaly be out this year.

The current model Ruby accepts a 1080p signal. Not just upconverting of 1080i, but actual native acceptance of 1080p.

I know that earlier versions of the Ruby did NOT accept 1080p, but all the new versions do accept it.

Now, what the exact details of this projector that I can't afford are... Well, I just don't have that answer. I'm sure if someone is shopping a front projector of that calibre you can find your answer over at Projector Central or AVS Forum.
