PS2 on PSN would be great but it doesn't change the fact that I still have 80 PS2 games that Sony is making sure I will never be able to use on a PS3.

Damn I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know how I would let go of the ideal model.

It's like double-dipping on a blu-ray for a DVD.

Well, actually the news of PS2 games hitting the PSN, should be outstanding news, being that Sony would most likely have to do a firmeware update w/ a PS2 emulator so that those games would play on a PS3, which would effectively make PS3S backwards_compatible again.

I'm sure the could just re-author the games, but I'd imagine that emulation would be the cheaper method (especially considering they already have an emulator that was implemented in the early 80 gig models).

If they do that then I'll gladly fork over some $$$ to get to play my PS2 games again instead of buying another PS2.

Didn't Mike Kebby say the issue with PS1 games were problems around getting companies to submit them and getting all the bits relicensed. It would be great to hear from someone like capcom, square and konami that they're at least trying.

I can only pray this becomes reality.

MGS2, MGS3 & Shadow of the Colossus would be Day 1 buys for me. And remastered in HD like GoW? Pure bliss.

Iirc, Hudson already said TG-16 games were coming to the U.S.; I'm just assuming that they and Sony waiting on PSN subscriptions to add some extra incentive to subscribe. Hopefully something similar is going on with other old systems... of course, this is the same Sony that can't even put up simple avatars on the PSN store in a timely manner.

I appreciate what SCEA is trying to do; with them publishing all old PS1 games (in the U.S.), it gives Sony a great deal of freedom to promote the Playstation line as time goes on without worrying about individual publishers going under or losing interest. If Sony worldwide is trying to do something similar with PS2 games, then I could understand the wait (especially if their PS2 emulator has to be tweaked for each game). I fully support companies taking a long-term view of preserving the availability of old games.

But only if that's what they're actually doing. I've been hoping we'd hear something about PS2 games on PSN for the 10-year anniversary of the PS2 in March. Last week's Podcast Beyond made it sound like PS2 games were coming any time now, but being IGN and all...

My only concern about ps2 games is HDD space...

I mean, MGS2, MGS3, Final Fantasy X, GTA3, Vice, San An...

Just those six games would add up to around 20 gigs at very least, right?...Space will go fast.

Why do you think their releasing those new 250 gig PS3's and all of those games you mentioned are only gonna be around one or two gigs tops, and most likely they'll revamp them like they did Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

Also here is some news on the 1TB HDs for PS3

If they are going to rerelease dreamcast games, here is one I am interested in playing. Anyone heard of D2? A game directed by Kenji Eno, it was a controversial game at the time, but something about the creature design from some of the screenshots seems to make me more disturbed than that of Resident Evil, they look as if the person is being consumed by transforming instead of it looking like another creature. It has been compared to Metal Gear Solid in terms of cinematics. I am interested if anyone knows who has actually played it?
