Arrow PS2 and Dreamcast Games Coming to PSN???

(The above picture isn't real but it'll give ya an idea what it would be like)
Quote:
The long-rumored, recently leaked existence of PlayStation 2 games joining the "PS One Classics" line comes a bit closer to reality, at least in the mind of PlayStation senior VP Peter Dille who calls the digital re-issues a "terrific opportunity."

In an interview with IGN, Dille says that the PlayStation folks are "working really hard on" bringing more PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation Store, not quite an official announcement, but another glimmer of hope.

"From our side, we're going through our own studio organization and trying to make sure all these old games are out there so that we can lead by example, but we're also communicating with all the third-parties about the success of the Final Fantasy games, and other PS1 and PS2 classics," Dille tells IGN. "By all means, I think people can look for more of that because once the third-parties see how this works, it's just found money. There's not a whole lot of work that has to go into it and once we can get it up on the network, it finds an audience pretty quickly."

With PS2 backward compatibility all but dead on the PlayStation 3 going forward, it would seem like some of that "found money" would be an attractive option for Sony. About as attractive as the rumored addition of Dreamcast games to the PS3 would be for me.

Maybe we'll hear something official closer to GDC or E3 this year.

I'm convinced this is more or less inevitable. Not that I really care either way. I just think it's an obvious business decision by Sony.

This would give me a real reason to spend some time on the PSN. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hope this becomes a reality. Just purchased Fatal Frame and Silent Hill 2,3 and 4. Just to re-play them again.

As much as I would love a PS2 store on PSN I think IGN have it out of context.

Most likely Dille was talking about PS2 remasters in the style of GoW collection.

Soul Calibur III, Madden '05, Gran Turismo 2 and the Ratchet & Clank games would be awesome.

But knowing my luck it'll just be all the Final Fantasy games which I don't like. lol

Well even if it's just that it's still better than nothing.

I really couldn't say...

What Sony do sometimes I will never understand, but it seems as if they are leaving a lot of money on the table by not having some sort of PS2 compatibility. That and not getting PSone games out in any sort of hurry...

Getting a little ahead of yourself there with the PSP2 huh? For all we know there'll be a PSP4000/GO2000 this instead of a PSP2 this year..... I'm also wishing for it though, but to be honest it'll be a lot harder to emulate PS2 games on PSP2, mainly due to the 2 shoulder buttons being used so much on PS2 games and I honestly can't see how they can put 4 shoulder buttons on the PSP2 and still keep the machine elegant. Well I can think of one way but I don't know if that would be feasible....

Especially now that the PS2 seem to be on its last legs, add BC on PS3, PS2 Classics on PSN and remastered HD editions to the most classic games and you'll be making money off PS2 games for awhile.

Dreamcast games is almost certain to come to PSN given that Sega document leak that was found awhile back. I'm hoping they'll start introducing some Sega classics soonish (Master System, Genesis, Saturn, etc...), though given how lackluster their PSOne selection (still) is and given how Turbografx-16 games still haven't come out outside of Japan, I'm not optimistic.

i never said this year besides, i think buttons on the back of the psp itself could make for decent trigger buttons. you're fingers are back there holding the psp anyways, might as well put them to use

That's how I figured but I don't know how feasible that is, unless the screen is detachable and functional on its own.

Anyways to keep to the topic at hand, I'll believe it when I see it
