Hell people even tried to tell me that Wall-E was a remake of Short Circuit. When it gets to that point, step back and take a break for awhile.
I do. I recently went to a high school production of Hamlet. I politely applauded when it was over, then went home and drank. At least Uwe Boll will have plenty of fresh faces.

This is a stepping stone move for her.

If it works out, it will breathe new life into her career and I for one love the idea.

Talking Adam Scott Joins Piranha 3-D

Adam is always great in everything I've seen him in and like the article mentions he's excellent in Starz new show Party Down, and now he joins Elizabeth Shue for the Piranha 3-D remake!

Our buddy Adam Scott ("Knocked Up", "The Aviator", "Stepbrothers", TVs "Party Down") was recently announced as the male lead in director Alex Aja's fishy "Piranha" reboot.

The film, starring Elisabeth Shue, is set in Lake Havasu, Arizona, where a tremor causes the lake's floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas. It's up to Shue's character, the local Sheriff, and her teenage son, to essentially - not to sound too 'Mighty Mouse' - save the day.

Scott, currently hamming it up as Henry Pollard on Starz' "Party Down", will play Novak, a diver for the US Geological Service who helps discover the piranha outbreak.

Scott tells us "[Piranha 3-D] should be fun, I love the original and the pedigree involved, [Joe] Dante, John Sayles. Alex is an amazing director and a such a cool guy, really looking forward to it".

Not until the very end, here's to hoping Shue gets eaten very early in 3-D in the flick.............and than survives through the end credits

Default Richard Dreyfuss to Cameo in 'Piranha 3D'?!

Although this has yet to be confirmed, website Nuke the Fridge is reporting that Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind) has been cast in Dimension Films' upcoming remake of Piranha 3D. "Richard Dreyfuss will reportedly appear in a cameo that will pay homage to "Jaws,"" they report. "His character will even be drinking Amity brand beer (the setting of "Jaws"). (Spoiler Follows) Reportedly, Dreyfuss might be the first character killed off in the new movie." He will star alongside the previously announced Elisabeth Shue and Adam Scott. Horror fav Alex Aja will be getting behind the camera this month in Arizona.

Wow this casting is just getting strange now, hahaha

The New York Post's "Page Six" is also reporting that Ving Rhames is set to join Elisabeth Shue and Adam Scott in the film.

Director Alexandre Aja starts shooting the horror-thriller next month in Arizona for a March 19, 2010 release.

In the update, a tremor causes Arizona's Lake Havasu floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas.

Last night I was browsing through Netflix's instant view movies when I came across the 1995 version of Joe Dante's original Piranha, which I had forgotten all about. So Alexandre Aja's upcoming Piranha 3D is actually the 3rd version of the story. Family Guy and Max Payne fans (if there is such a thing for the latter) will be interested to know the 1995 one featured one of the first roles for Mila Kunis, when she was only 12 (i.e. not worth going back to ogle). Anyway, keeping with the theme of casting young upcoming starlets, Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr has signed on to the new film. Read after the break for more details on her character, other characters, and the brand new official synopsis from Dimension Films. The movie itself is still a long way off from its March 19, 2010 release...

Via EOnline:

Jessica Szohr"Szohr has signed on to play Kelly, a hot young townie caught up in the excitement of co-eds who have descended upon the area for spring break.

Previously announced cast for the Dimension Films project includes Elisabeth Shue as the local sheriff, Ving Rhames as one of her deputies and Adam Scott as a Navy diver sent in to help rescue the town.

Richard Dreyfuss will also be featured in a nod to his work in—what else?—Jaws."

And the synopsis:

Jaws... lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D, in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.

Look, synopsis schynopis. As long as no one warns "You gotta be careful of the water, it creates reflections! And piranhas!!", I'll be happy.
