In other words, yes. People will call it stupid and dumb, but it really does take balls, this movie. It goes to places you wouldn't think it would and for that, people will laugh at and it's unfortunate.

I just watched that clip GreenScar posted up earlier today, and the entire time I'm thinking this looks so much like other Guillermo presents projects which for me is great. I love foreign horror films, and Guillermo is a genius far as i'm concerned, so if this is stamped with his approval, I know I'm going to love it.

BTW, that little creature
[Show spoiler]is the person in the bloody picture right?

[Show spoiler]Yes, that's it. Not really a person, but as it grows, it becomes more human in appearance as you can tell from the difference in the picks.

Sorry, I should have asked if you really wanted to know. If there are spoilers you want to know, let me know or if you have just basic questions, let me know. I'll be happy to answer them.

Default New Trailer

New Trailer for Splice.

I believe the ending was redone for it's theatrical release

Quote:
A new trailer has gone live for Splice, the new sci-fi creature feature from American-born Canadian director Vincenzo Natali (Cube), below. It gives us a much better idea of what the central creature is, and she's not exactly what you'd expect.

The trailer also features the film's new tag line—"Science's newest miracle is a mistake"—and a June 4 release date!

Splice offers a creepy cool take on the genre and stars Adrien Brody (King Kong) and Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead) as two scientists who marry human and animal DNA to create a new creature, with disastrous results. Guillermo del Toro produced.

Looks insanely exciting. Hasn't been as long as I thought it'd take for a domestic release, will definitely see this one at the cinema.

W/ the major theatrical release of "Splice," is there any talk of a tie in BD release of Natali's 1997 film "Cube"?

Default Splice the movie, finally...

It will see a theatrical release after a couple of years in limbo. June 4th.

Check out the official trailer:

I've been wondering about this for so long.

Now bring "In Memorium" [sic] to video or theaters.

Can you mention a few of them? I love foreign horror.

@ Lord Stewie: I did a search but nothing came up. I figured better to risk repetition than not to tell at all.

Default Interview with SPLICE director Vincenzo Natali on Smells Like Screen Spirit

Wednesday May 19th I sat down with writer/director Vincenzo Natali the morning after a special screening of his latest film SPLICE. You may know Natali for some of his previous films: Cube, Nothing and Cypher.

SPLICE follows superstar genetic engineers Clive (Adrien Brody) and Elsa (Sarah Polley) who specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create incredible new hybrids. Now they want to use human DNA in a hybrid that could revolutionize science and medicine. But when the pharmaceutical company that funds their research forbids it, Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiments. The result is Dren, an amazing, strangely beautiful creature that exhibits uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments. And though, at first, Dren exceeds their wildest dreams, she begins to grow and learn at an accelerated rate—and threatens to become their worst nightmare.

Natali is quite the gracious conversationalist, and it was very pleasant to be in his company.

Check out the my full interview below:

it's weird. i like the concept, i like the look of the movie and i like the general idea behind the story / film, but something about the main "creature" i think is gonna make me like the film just a tad less than i otherwise would.

hell, just the pictures i've seen of it on this forum make me laugh because it looks hilariously dumb imo. i can't quite place it but the creature isn't scary or that interesting... it just makes me chuckle. somehow i don't think that should be what happens when i see the creature in the film.

I think the reason you like the concept and it will prove successful is because it's a retelling of an already familiar story. Hint: fire bad!
