The gun fight during the bank exit in "Heat", and also the Eastwood cleaning out the saloon in "Unforgiven".

If we're talking isolated scenes, think most of us had never even heard of the Coen Bros. before Nicholas Cage's attempt to rob some Huggies from a convenience store, in "Raising Arizona":

Face/Off - boat chase scene was unreal
Point Break - skydiving scenes
Bourne Ultimatum - the fight scene where Bourne smashes the dude in the throat with a book
Saving Private Ryan - Normandy

The ultimate for me would have to be the chariot race in Ben Hur.
I know this is a comedy but the sequence when they are driving thru the mall in The Blues Brothers also comes to mind.

The Noghtcrawler scene in X2 where he was being mind controlled and trying to assassinate the President and fighting and teeleporting at the same time was awesome. Also, it has already been mentioned but the 30 minute sequence in Saving Private Ryan where they initially got off the boats and were smack dab in the middle of that intense battle was intensely awesome as well.

Though the movie pretty much blew, I did love the attack scene in Pearl Harbor!

The shootout in Heat is one of the finest scenes to ever be filmed and is definitely the choice scene for this thread, but its not just the shootout though, im counting from the moment they step into the bank and the tremendous Force Marker by Brian Eno begins, the tension here is just beautiful and sets up the greatest scene in the world perfectly.

well said!

The editing and pacing is also flawless imo.

Mann's finest moment as a director!

I also love the ALIEN'S seqeunce when they go in the second time and the "bugs" start to attack. The chaos and insanity than ensues is so well done and seeing it through those Marine "helmet cams" is genius. Horner also adds this weird music that makes it even more intense.

Trying only to list those not already listed.
Avatar - final battle
Bourne Ultimatum - Tangiers chase scene
Casino Royale - chase scene after opening credits and scene in collapsing venice building
District 9 - final fight
Incredible Hulk - all of the three big set pieces
King Kong (2005) - Kong vs the t-rex
Quantum of Solace - opening car chase
Resident Evil Extinction - scene in las vegas and the bird attack
Terminator Salvation - final battle and first action sequence
Transformers 2 - Forrest battle

On a side note I thought the action scenes are what let the dark knight down (along with a muddled third act).

since i watched Transformers 2 last night again i will put a couple from that. The scene where optimus fights in the forest is excellent, and also the final battle scenes in the egyptian desert, especially when the bombers come in and the whole place goes up in smoke. Bay knows how to do action!

No one has mentioned the Train Scene from Spider-Man 2 yet? Strange.

Also, Casino Royale deserves a spot here as well as Transformers last few scenes in that one city.

I'd have to go with Black Hawk Down as the standout. Virtually the entire movie from the fall during the initial repel puts you in the middle of a warzone. Some scenes in Saving Private Ryan did this just as compellingly, but I think Ridley Scott is a bit more talented than Spielberg for action scenes. Spielberg romanticizes it, if you know what I mean.
