Actually Blood Meridian by McCarthy is even more astounding in its use of language, but it's a much harder read than the Road.
When I read No Country for Old Men (in anticipation of the film and semi-ruined the viewing hence why I did the opposite with The Road) the flow was so direct, it was fascinating. It was as if every line was alive with movement. But in The Road, there was so much indecision, so much permeating uncertainty again and again, that that brought the book down a bit for me. Don't get me wrong, I really admired the book, and especially the last paragraph, I just found the tone to be irritating every now and again.

Does anyone know if the UK release will include deleted/extended scenes? They are mentioned as extras on the US release, but are not listed among the extras on the UK edition, at least not on the list I've seen.

That's why initially sparked my concern: The extras on the US disc seem roughly the same, except we appear to get unnecessary comedic stuff, and they deleted/extended scenes. Hopefully 'including' indicates that not all the extras are listed.

Didn't see this, although I think it will be a first day purchase for me. The trailers look pretty sweet.

Trailers for this are very misleading.
Brilliant film though.

I personally enjoyed the dark atmosphere this film offered, although I would have preferred more depth to the plot. Its a good one to have in any collection.

Bottom line is this worked as a book, not so much as a film.

Brilliant film, but just too depressing to own and have to re-watch. I think the experience of watching it once was hard enough for me. Maybe in a few years I'll revist the film.

One of a very few films that I have cried at in the cinema.

I agree, I went into this movie expecting alot. But in the end the whole film was very anti-climatic.

Can I just ask all those who went to see it and weren't impressed, why you didn't like it?

What were you expecting?

Can someone with a BD-Drive report the discsize (best in bytes)? That would be great

Filesize of the feature film would be even better!

Thanks in advance
Bubbles

I watched this tonight. Thought the film was pretty good. Had to watch it with subtitles turned on though because there's a lot of mumbling/low talking in the film - mostly from Viggo

How would you rate the PQ? HDD gave the American disc 3/5 and that's a Sony distribution of a Weinstein title I believe. Since Icon released it in the UK I was hoping they have a different and better transfer.
