Yes; it played here in Washington, DC. I didn't notice how many theatres, and it seemed to disappear pretty quickly. I meant to see it, but with the blizzard and lack of interest from the wife, I didn't make it.

I read two reviews, both very positive, in the Washington Post.

Fisher King is the last movie I saw of him. I realise that I would just never like his style, just not for me. Not saying that he is a bad director or bad story teller, he just not one for me.
Fisher King made me dislike Gilliam a little bit too. I have not seen Brazil but 12 Monkeys is his most accessible one. Maybe his best because it works for everyone?

It works for everyone? Really? That's a pretty blanket statement.

12 Monkeys was one of his worst films.

I love love love classic Gilliam - Time Bandits, Brazil, Munchausen. Brazil is in my top 5 movies ever. Haven't seen The Fisher King, been meaning to. I like 12 Monkeys and Fear & Loathing fine, but not as much as other people seem to. Very excited for Imaginarium, first day buy to be sure.

I grew up watching Terry Gilliam films,as well as Monty Python ,,i guess its an acquired taste ,because my wife( American ) didn't quite understand the humor at first,, but now she does..But the kids have grown up appreciating UK comedy. so all is well
Yup so the films pre orderd for me also,

This film is a definite pre order for me. Very well done. Great story, effects and acting performances. I saw this in an empty theatre a month ago and was pleasantly surprised and glad I did.

The UK Lionsgate bonus materials look good. Wonder if Sony will have the same.

I'd just like to point out that this movie SUCKED. I am a fan of Gilliam, but this film really didn't have much to offer. I'd really recommend a rental over a blind buy on this one, I was really disappointed.

I never saw this movie come out in any theater around here.
I want to like his movies...kind of like wanting to enjoy the Grateful Dead...but I just cant. They do very little for me

Tom Waits as "Nick" was nothing short of brilliant. I saw this at the multi-plex in early January. A few older people got up mid-way and walked out of the movie. Guess they couldn't stand it, but I rather enjoyed it.

I could listen to Tom Waits all day - talking or singing, it's all good!

I saw it in the theater and definitely liked it enough to buy it. Other than "Jabberwocky," there isn't a single Gilliam film that I wouldn't purchase on blu-ray.

This is semi off-topic, but does anyone know who hold the rights to release Tideland on BD in North America. Is there any chance a BD release might be forthcoming here to coincide with The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus's release?

Not sure who holds the rights, but do you remember that the US DVD was cropped from its 2.35:1 aspect ratio to 1.85:1? So, if "Tideland" ever did get a US blu-ray release, hopefully that would be corrected?

I would say go for the German blu-ray release of "Tideland." It's completely region-free and in the correct aspect ratio. I've owned it since it was first released and have no issues with it at all.
