Initially, I didn't see what you'd use this sort of thing for but one of the movies I watched recently, had a demo of it and some of the stuff they showed looked pretty cool.

OK, I officially tried a second Pocket Blu capable Blu-Ray last night (Inglorious Basterds) and I can confirm that it will not work on the Oppo BDP-83 (even if the Oppo is hooked up to the network with a wireless access point).

I'm not going to watch BDs on my PS3 just so I can have Pocket Blu. No thanks.

The PS3 was a great Blu-Ray player back in the day, but it's WAY too noisy (fan noise) and won't support my D-BOX system. So, it's out of the question.

Did you try their customer support (link)? They responded to me fairly quickly and helped resolve the issue I was having with The Fourth Kind. Turns out I was launching the film and, consequently, the app before my player connected to the Net over my wireless network. Seemingly after the player received a download, the app launched and everything worked like a charm. It's great to have a back-lit remote on my iPod and timeline at my fingertips. The bottom line is this. If you're a "purist" or watching a film for the first time, then this app probably isn't for you. If that doesn't describe you, then you'll love it . I only wish it was incorporated into more films.

Thanks for the link. I'm still not sure from your description what problems you were having, but I gave the darn BD plenty of time to get going before launching the app and vice versa. I tried every combo with no luck. This has been the case with Inglorious Basterds and The Fourth Kind.

Which BD player do you have?

Make sure you give full permissions in the BD player setup for BD-Live internet. Otherwise it won't work

I've had no problems accessing any BD-Live content before on the BDP-83.

I wish I could find someone who has gotten the BDP-83 to specifically work with Pocket Blu (so I know if it's just my setup of if it's the player), but, so far, nobody has spoken up!

If anyone does see about future releases of PocketBlu titles, please remember to come back to this thread and let us know.

Universal's The Wolfman set for release on June 1, 2010 will feature pocket BLU.

Neither did I. That's what fixed the problem though. I believe giving full permissions enables the bi-directional commmunication it needs to work

Pretty much all Universal titles from now on will use it in some capacity

Apollo !3 will and it looks like most of Universals future releases will be pocket blu enabled.

I love the fact that I can see chapters and time left without it being on my TV screen

Every time I use this app it crashes immediately. I've reset my Ipod, deleted it, re-downloaded it, and nothing.

At least it was free

Yes. All iPhone/iPod apps will work on the iPad which would include pocket BLU. However, until deluxe digital rewrites pocket for the ipad, you'll have to run it in one of two modes – one with the same resolution as the iPhone/iPod, at 320×240 centred on the iPad screen, or two, with full use of the iPad screen when zoomed in (with corresponding loss of resolution, of course).
