I hope HDNet Movies shows this one again so I can compare the two versions.
Some of Optimum's early releases looked like crap...re-issues would be nice.

I have been holding off buying this for AGES now and may cave and buy it soon. I have seen it - not a bad transfer but the lack of extras really upsets me!!

I have the UK release and just a warning: it has a pitch problem with the audio. I know NTSC/PAL doesn't matter with Blu-ray, but something got screwed up in the transfer. It has that PAL speed-up sound that makes everyone's voice just a bit to high.

I know there's another release from Australia. Does anybody have that one? I'd really like to know if it's the same before attempting to get it.

Wow! I had no idea that this was the case with this release! Now, that's gutting!

The picture is that of the Australian release although one of the sellers refer to theirs as a UK import. Why the high price? Well, there's a sucker born every minute.
Yep, that's it!! Now, how do I buy the Australian version w/o being a sucker? I certainly do not want to pay $30 +, and I don't really like the artwork on the UK version (sorry UK)...Ebay AU has them, but prices are over the place and most of the sellers under $20(US) don't ship internationally.....

Does anyone know if the Australian version is missing the pitch problems? I would assume they just reused the same bad Studio Canal master that the UK disc used.

When you get it can you post a review of what you think? I'm really curious to know if it's the same transfer, because if it's not and it doesn't have the pitch problem like the UK version I'll definitely double dip.

Alright, your time is up. Can you give us a review? I'm really curious about the audio issue.

I have the UK disc and as far as I know it is identical one for Europe, Mexico and Australia (it's just distributed by Universal there, unless there's been a re-release in Australia?). Image quality is ok (VC-1, 1080/24p), nothing to write home about (like a better upscaled DVD), but I expect this is the best it will ever look. The sound is DTS HD MA 5.1, and if you select UK on the intitial menu, there are English subtitles which can be turned off (e.g. there are no English subtitles if you choose Australia). The subtitles for other countries are forced. There are no extras whatsoever on the disc. Not sure about pitch problems, though (never used to notice it), but at the price on Amazon uk, I'm glad I got it.

I surely hope you are right, I wouldn't mind triple-dipping in that case, would be nice if they gave it some "Halloween-love overhaul" I do hope they throw in some extras too the next time around. I have the US special edition DVD, but it would be nice to have it all together conveniently on Blu as well.

I paid £5 for the Optimum release of The Fog and feel ripped off. The picture quality is awful.

Default John Carpenter's THE FOG

I couldn't find a thread on this release.

Is it region free by any chance?. Anyone here got it?.

I'm thinking of doing a blind buy.
