I think they were the alpha B1s...he didn't have the matching center set up so I only heard the fronts. I wrote down the model number, but left the paper out in my vehicle, so I don't have it with me at the moment. He played a vinyl record and it sounded so clear-it was awesome!

OK, the Alphas are nice, not as good as the Image series. I liked my Energys better then the Alphas and the Image about as much as the Energys, maybe a little more detail, but not much. And the Energy RCs are better then the Image's... so on and so forth.

However yes the B1s for a little speaker are nice tho. I think you would find the Jamos to be as nice, if not a little better.

If they're as nice or better than what I heard, I'm sold! The Jamos you linked to are also about a 75 cheaper for each (fronts and center at the price I was quoted) so that is even better I have enough saved up to order the receiver, so maybe I'll do that this weekend and the surrounds and the center in the next month or so. Then I will have to save up for a good long while for the sub. I will report back, as I'm sure I will need plenty of help figuring out how to set up the dang thing. I've been reading the manual for the receiver, but it's a little confusing.

Thanks again for your excellent help and I'm sure I'll have an update before too long!!!!

awesome.

the speakers should be along the same lines as one another. I did notice that the Center channel has gone up in price from what it was last week, I think you will see them selling out soon. I would suggest getting the speakers all at once, to be safe... Otherwise you can use the C60 Cen, which is the same thing, if the C400 Cen is all gone.

That is very good to know!!!

Maybe I'll just go ahead and get the speakers all tonight and get the receiver in the next month or so. I will slowly die inside every time I look at them and cannot hear them, but it's too good a deal right now to pass up, so I better jump on it! I just hope they work with no way to test them, man I'd be pissed if the return window was up!

12AWG or 14AWG will be fine The longer the run the heavier you want the wire .

12 is bigger than 14 so the lower the number the bigger the wire !

Perfect-thanks crazyBLUE. I'll order some 12 then just to be certain. Last time I did wiring, it was in shop class on a breaker box and I shocked myself like a complete idiot, so hopefully this time I'll fare better-Always unplug first

Speakers have been ordered! No sense in waiting 2 weeks and then spending 100 bucks more for the same thing in a newer model! Thanks Callas!

Now the nail-biting wait begins

hahah no joke!!!! I still have my crappy old HTiB (it's actually not THAT bad, I"m just ready for an improvement), so I won't be completely without speakers. The wait for a sub will be even more agonizing I think, because I love me some LFE I think it will be worth it in the end, so I'll do it anyway! My HTiB can move to my bedroom with my old CRT TV and hopefully a new blu player before too long. I have so few DVDs left, there isn't much to watch on it anymore so I need a second player even if it won't look any different until I get a new TV!!!

awesome, Its always nice to be able to get new speakers. These will love whatever Denon you plan to get too.

What you could do is find a dealer near you that has Denon receivers and then tell them that you want to hear how your Jamos will sound on a Denon, act as if your going to buying it from them in the not so distant future, since you might be anyways, however you can test the speakers and make sure there is nothing wrong with them and hear if you really like them. That way if they are damaged or if you can't stand the sound, you can return them right away.

And just so you know, I have bought from both vanns.com and world wide stereo and they were both great in terms of shipping and service. If you have an issue with WWStereo, talk to Vince the shipping manager, he is awesome. I bought twice from them and once my speaker came with broken grill and they really took care of me.

That is brilliant!!! I know Best Buy carries Denon, so I could try there and if that doesn't work attempt to find another dealer and do that. That will tell me exactly what I want to know, and make waiting a little easier. Although I have a feeling that will be tough in any case

I'm glad to hear that those are both great places to buy and have great customer service. I'm sure if I like these, I'll be ordering other things from them in the future, and it's always nice to have great customer service! Thanks for all the great tips!!!

Avond,

are you replacing just your front 3 speakers or all 5? If all 5 what are you gonna use as the back speakers?

I'm going to eventually replace the surrounds as well. I want to get the sub first and the surrounds afterwards, but if that won't work (or I can get a good deal now), I could get them sooner. I was contemplating the Jamo C401s for the surrounds, but I'm most definitely open to suggestions. What are important things to consider? Wireless would be nice (since the back of the room will be mostly open if I arrange the furniture how I think I need to), however, good sound is more important, so if wired is better, that's fine as well.

Yes, most definitely! I looked at their subs on their website, and they are just a little out of my price range. Maybe someday but definitely not now I really like the idea of the Hsu and that's probably the one I will end up with if all goes as planned! Can't wait!
