Sony has done a lot of great stuff, but I think the award for Blu studio of the year has to go to Disney. Great support for Blu-ray. Walt would be proud of the extra effort being put forth for the advancement of the entertainment bearing his name.

Are you ready to rock?

Edit: From the Bits reporting on this story...

From what we've learned, this is just the start of a terrific slate of Blu-ray titles that Buena Vista has planned for release next year. We'll have more news on all this in the weeks ahead.

You guys know I'm Blu all the way, but this is getting ridiculous. These dates are so far out, that I would advise caution. We're still missing A LOT of titles announced at CES 2007 for both Fox and Disney. I think they should get those out the door, rather than "announcing" stuff that won't be out for month and months and is highly subject to change.

Don't get me wrong, I'm liking a lot of those titles. But what's next, start announcing the 2009 slate too? I think most of the early adopters like us are quite aware of what titles are in each respective studios catalog and what the potential is. They just need to "get to it", and release the titles instead of talking about it.

I agree with that as well, however, I am beginning to think that this is the calm before the Storm! I am optimistic that in the next few weeks, we are going to see a lot more announcements! We all just need some patience, but I believe this time next year, we are all going to be BROKE!

Fox has been MIA for most of this year, so of course we're going to be missing a lot of titles announced at CES 2007.

I don't keep that close of a tab on what titles are announced from Disney that are supposed to be out this year, I know The Chronicles of Narnia was going to be release this fall, but was postpone to 2008. What movies are we missing?

Indeed.

Disney is setting the bar in every respect for what it's supposed to look like when you're serious about high quality HD and winning format wars.

I hate to say it, but I think Josh mistook the usual Blu ad for a "just Blu" ad

There is no sign of JB Blu on Disney's retailer site, and they just put the DVD up in the last 24 hours

It would have been part of the press release with everything else as well

So I hope to be wrong, but that's the evidence

Fox sponsored the contest at Java One looking for the best attempt at interactive content. So yeah, I think they're working on that as well as BD+ testing. Sony is busy with replicating and PQ encoding (as well as Panasonic). Disney is busy with promoting BD. It's all good.

By the way, if that's the actual BDA plan, the insiders can delete this post!

It was in the HMM fall preview. Prebook is the August 21st, so we'll know soon enough.

Same here, hopefully we are both wrong.

If this is picked up by other blogs with Blu-ray.com as the source and it turns out we are right it could do a bit of damage to the websites reptutation.

You KNOW that this PR was made at the launch of their BD tour of the malls with Panny, right?

Since they already released the PR about the tour about a month ago, it would be a repeat to do it again. So they came up with an even better PR with this one. If parents and Disney fans are still not clear what Disney is doing with BD, the BD tour and the Disney vault announcements is going to hammer down that message that those who want Disney content in HD better get behind BD.

A Warner or Paramount PRs make consumers wait for the war to end. Sony, Fox, Lionsgate and Disney PRs tell consumers that they can help end the war very quickly by buying BD players and titles.

OMG!

In some circles, this is pretty damn close to Star Wars being announced. Really.

Committment to the vault classics on Blu-ray is an amazing show of Blu-ray support.

It's just that no one else picked it up and it's not on the retailer info site, where stuff usually shows up before even a press release

Can you double check at least?
