eh, maybe we'll get lucky and be able to import the finnish or south korean release... if there ever is one.

this would one of the very few movies i'd break my "no-imports" rule for, just like it would be one of the very few movies i'd break my "no-more-SD-DVDs" rule for.

Guys it is so important to get the word out about Michael Bay's reaction to the Paramount betrayal.

This needs to be submitted to all major news outlets.

A good starter title is:

Michael Bay says no to Transformers 2 based on anti-consumer actions by Paramount.

Thumbs up Michael Bay - "No Transformers 2 for me!"

"I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

From www.michaelbay.com (Yes it's real)

Respect Mr Bay.

This is undoubtedly fallout from the big announcement. They'll either have to stroke this guy well or take the loss on a sequel.

Actually, I doubt home theater was the sole deciding factor:
Think he was planning not to be in the director's chair for another one anyway, move on to less headache projects, and hadn't decided on how to cushion the blow to the studio heads yet--
But way to slip in a little headline dig for our side, Mike!...Make 'em sweat!

(We'll even forgive you for sticking those dopey "Indian telephone operator" gags in the middle of an action scene!...Well, okay, maybe we'll just think that one over for now.)

Presumably, Paramount's move has cost Michael Bay money because he won't see any of the $150m and his movie will now make less money than it would have in disc sales.

Thing is, if you want to make a movie now, why would you go to Universal or Paramount, knowing that when your movie is released to consumers, it will reach fewer potential purchasers than if you went with another studio?

Awesome,

That's the best way to point out Paramounts stupid error. I will not be buying HD DVD and I am about to begin a Blu Ray shopping spree.

I will buy TRANSFORMERS on blu ray as soon as Paramount fixes this mistake.

The movie was HIS project. He co-wrote, he directed, he co-produced, etc.

What would you say if you were to helm a project all the way from start-to-finish, release it and then watch as the studio that distributes it does with it whatever it wants simply because they have the rights to sell it?Think this will be the start for what will come from Hollywood.

Remember to click on the link with the quote and not the main Bay site.

Bay's relationship with the producers, with the exception of Spielberg, was already tumultuos. Paramount's 180 is just icing on the cake.

Can other directors do it better? Probably. But consider what you saw on screen with the budget of only US$160 million. Transformers is the best Bay film ever.

This is great news. I am glad to see that he feels Paramount definitely made a huge mistake.
