war is a word used to describe this competing for my dollars.
war is far too strong a word to use. this word is used to incite fan boyizm. compete , compete all day long. the word "war" .... until sony rolls over a hddvd factory with a tank and is droping bombs on women and children this is not a war. if sony ever does that then you wont be fan boyz anymore. until then you're fan boyz. WAR grrrrrrrrrr rawwwwwwwwwrrr nah its too forms of media competeing for my almighty dollar. they are doing events , haveing press days , competeing. when I'm in wal mart and I'm ducking bullets in the movie section then I'll be like damn this is "war". medic to isle 15 , we need a clean up then you are'nt fan boyz nothing wrong with being a fan boy , a rabid foaming at the mouth war mongering fan boy ![]() |

At this point the format war is no good for anyone. I am sick to death of the war too. I just want one format to play movies at high bitrate 1080P with lossless audio and to be purchased for a reasonable price.
Currently I am afraid that Warner will be paid off too and drop Blu-ray. If that happens I think I will drop out all together because then the situation will become hopeless for both sides. Who knows I may just start reading books again. ![]() But for now I am still 100% Blu-ray. |

My sentiments precisely. Paramount = bummer but BD still on the way to a win.

I was sort of amused at the beginning, but with every passing day I get more and more angry. I just hate dealing with stupid people and we're essentially counting on stupid people to come around before we can enjoy our movies without any more headaches.

Yes. I can understand an exclusive studio accepting money to release on the other format (at least that's normal business practice of increasing short-term gains) but a neutral studio accepting money to ditch the better-selling format in exchange for money is insanity. That flies in the face of any remotely acceptable business practice as they are throwing away both short-term and long-term money for a one-time payment (and probably under the table as well).

Life is too short to limit one's enjoyment because the industry is stupid and can't see how in the long run, this war will kill High Def all together. |

Does anyone know how long Beta was on the market before VHS won the war?

I mean, personally, I think BD will win, because DISNEY rules, and they usually pick the winning side. DVD sucks, and we all know it, but the numbers don't lie. From Jan 1 through Aug 12, consumers bought 2.1 million BD discs, and 1.1 million HD-DVD discs, compared with nearly half a BILLION standard DVD'S. That means there are a hell of a lot of more people still supporting a sucky format. I would say, that if this format war does not end with a format neutral kind of ending, neither side will win, and DVD will emerge victorious. So all you fan boys of either format, just consider the SACD DVD-A war, and see who won that. CD did. But even that format is going the way of the 8-track as more and more people download their music. Which could be the way that movies might go, which means that not one of the High Def formats will win... |
