Not the best show so far but for the gorgeous Mitra I will watch 2 more episodes as I wait for it to improve.

I don't expect the show to get any better, but Rhona just has a draw to her. I must watch everything I see her in, no matter how bad. Maybe she really is a vampire.

I'm not that attracted to her but anywho, a 1.5 for the summer is great.

Who knows this could stick around for awhile, that's not too bad of a premiere I guess, I just don't know what kind of numbers they look for on a sunday in the summer.

At 10 p.m., supernatural drama "The Gates" (4.6 million, 1.5) performed better than "Scoundrels" in the adult demo. "Gates" improved 15% upon its lead-in and won the hour.

I really liked the Pilot. It had a great story and with the discovery of the previous Police Chief in the previews for next weeks episode made week 2 a must see. Mitra was the main reason I watched the Pilot.

To be honest, I'd be dead too if she told me she preferred the kitchen.

That was my thought to, when she asked Johnny Messner to come into the kitchen I was like this could go one of two ways, you get some and than she kills you, or she kills you, either way I would do anything Rhona asked me too, lol. I'd love a piece of that undead goddess.

Maybe, and that is very very rare.

Good news for us who liked the show

“The Gates” Qualifies as TV’s Top-Rated Scripted Summer Debut in 1 Year In Adults 18-49

Posted on 21 June 2010 by Bill Gorman

via press release:

Growing from its Lead-in and Gaining Audience Throughout its Debut, “Scoundrels” Generates Double-Digit Time Period Gains for ABC in Viewers and Young Adults

Building on its Lead-in to Rank No. 1 in Adults 18-49, ABC’s Debut of “The Gates” Posts the Net’s Top Summer Number with Regular Programming at 10pm Since ‘06

“The Gates” Qualifies as TV’s Top-Rated Scripted Summer Debut in 1 Year In Adults 18-49 and Marks ABC’s Best Summer Scripted Opener in 5 Years

“Scoundrels” (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Building on its lead-in against the conclusion of NBC’s high-rated U.S. Open Golf Tournament coverage on Father’s Day in viewers and young adults and gaining audience throughout its debut airing in the 9 o’clock hour, the series opener of “Scoundrels” (5.2 million) made ABC the second-most-watched network overall to a sports-driven NBC.

* “Scoundrels” improved the hour year to year by double-digits for ABC in Total Viewers (+16% – 5.2 million vs. 4.5 million) and in Adults 18-49 (+18% – 1.3/4 vs. 1.1/3), over original programming on the year-ago night (“ABC Premiere Event – Impact Part 1” on 6/21/09).

“The Gates” (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Growing from its lead-in at 10:00 p.m. by 15% in Adults 18-49, ABC’s series debut of “The Gates” (1.5/5) finished a strong No. 1 against its network competition in the hour, beating CBS by 50% (1.0/3) and NBC by 67% (0.9/3).

* “The Gates” boosted the hour for ABC over the year-ago night by 25% in Adults 18-49 (1.5/4 vs. 1.2/4), pulling the Net’s top summer rating in the time slot since 2006 – since 9/3/06.

* In Adults 18-49, “The Gates” stands as TV’s top-rated summer scripted series debut in 1 year and ABC’s highest in 5 years – since 6/24/09 and 6/28/05, respectively.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 37% currently, from 32% at the same point in 2009. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next-day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

I agree. I just finished watching the Pilot on hulu and I really liked it. I normally don't care for Network shows anymore, but The Gates had a nice vibe to it and there was always this feeling of something going on beneath the surface. I also like the characters. Really good cast. Looking forward to the next episode.

I think they did a really great job in choosing Rhona Mitra to be the head female in this show. She actually does a great job in acting like a mysterious bad-ass.

She has the perfect features to play a vampire too. With her naturally high cheek bones and full lips, she's always had vampiric qualities, that's why she was excellent in Rise of the Underworld. I will continue to watch the show as long as it's on and as long as she's the lead. Who knows if the ratings continue to stay about level with where it premiered, ABC just got it's first summer hit show, that will hopefully continue on into the fall.

That was Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, but close enough. I agree that she was excellent in that movie and makes a good vampire. I have to check this show out on Hulu sometime soon.

Oh right, lol. I knew that, but somehow frakked up the title anyways. Probably because when I think about Rhona my upstairs brain doesn't function properly.

I can't fault you there. I'm sure she has that effect on many men. Haven't had that happen yet with her, but that doesn't mean I don't find her really hot too.

Ratings took a significant fall last night...

Quote:
There was already ratings drama for both "Scoundrels" and "The Gates," which had modest premieres last Sunday. This Sunday night's performance didn't help either show, although it's debatable whether the Daytime Emmys had any impact. It tends to be harder to launch scripted shows in the summer. Soap "Scoundrels" (3.6 million, 1.0/3 in adults 18-49) dropped 23% in the demo from last Sunday's premiere, and lost ground from its 8 p.m. lead in, a repeat "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (4.8 million, 1.3/4). Supernatural drama "The Gates" (3.2 million, 1.0/3 in adults 18-49) fared even worse, falling 33% in the demo from the premiere.

Second episode was a hair better than the first, still waiting for vampire stuff to happen, I mean even Vampire Diaries had more vampire action than this.

This show is going to blow it's mythical creatures load way too early. In two episodes we have Vampires, Witches, Wolf Shifters (THEY ARE NOT WEREWOVLES!!! ) and now a succubus, lol. I laughed so damn hard when Jake Cain said "My daughter is a succubus"

I can't even remember what a succubus is, going to guess some kind of demon.
