I have the original Coraline 3D version that came with the glasses in the box. (paper etc...)
Will the new release be a new disc/technology or will it be the same as the one I have (and I can just use the glasses)? Thanks! ![]() |

Different. It will be similar to the ones that they use in theaters and you need a 3D blu-ray player and tv.

Anaglyph 3D like the original Blu-Ray of Coroline can produce a stereoscopic 3D effect on any television with only cardboard glasses needed but at a huge price. It requires putting the image through numerous color filters. This is why no new television is required because its esencially encoded just like a 2D Blu-Ray but with different colors. The multi-colored glasses simply block out certain parts of the image to each eye creating the 3D effect. However it also destroys the movies color palette, severly reduces the detail, and introduces heavy ghosting in virtually every frame. This creates a 3D presentation that fails to impress even most huge 3D fans. The new disc avalible on January 4th is encoded at 3D Full HD. This can send an independent 1080p video stream to each eye which preserves the detail and color pallette of the 2D version and ghosting is far less prevelent. Its a vastly better 3D image that puts the anaglyph version on the previous release to shame. However it requires an expensive new television (if your not sure if you have it I garuntee you don't have it) and battery powered active shutter glasses. So its for a limited market. |

Hi there,
I've had the promotional 3D version of 'Coraline' virtually since it came out(along with 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs'). Apart from a trailer for 'Despicable Me' there were no bonus features(unless I'm missing something, an Easter Egg maybe) on it at all. So my question is simple, when 'Coraline' gets its official release in the coming weeks what's going to be on it? An audio commentary, perhaps? Promotional material, maybe? Or possibly an exhaustive "making of" documentary? Or none of the above? Does anyone know? If, as I'm thinking, it'll be a bare-bones edition, it won't be worth my purchasing the new version, I might as well stay with the one I've already got, huh? So, help this ignorant soul out, guys. Tell me what I can expect for my hard-earned cash. Thanks in advance. John. |

So if I play this new 3d/2d Blu-ray will there be any quality difference when compared to a stand alone 2d blu-ray version? honestly I ordered it thinking it was a 4 disk set and I don't have a 3d system yet. When the disk is played 2d does it only get half the picture?
