I dunno. You guys are enthusiasts, and I'm an 'often can't be bothered'-iast.
I might just order it from ezydvd for $170. I'll usually be happy to pay extra for the convenience of having it sooner/getting it closer

New Aliens screens. Still looks like plenty of grain remains intact.

Hallelujah!

Yeah, although it looks like there is the tiniest amount of DNR and some re-graining after the fact it looks phenomenal. It is far better than I anticipated, not because of any undue meddling just because I thought the film stock might have had limitations. Hopefully this is a lession to those that jump up and down before seeing a screenshot, let alone the actual disc. In this case the picture is superb. I can't wait to see it in action, but if that screenshot of Ripley with the flame thrower and the close-ups are any indication it will be great.

That site should have Alien3 screencaps up about midnight tonight. Fingers crossed the remaining two are equally impressive. I was never impressed with Resurrection's look in terms of style, but the grimy nature of 3 could really be impressive if treated well.

I don't really like the Egg packaging. Why would the Egg be bigger than the Alien? it should have been the Egg by itself, maybe just opening and a small bit of face-hugger coming out.

A better price (comparable to overseas), however I just can't justify the $90 extra on top of the price of the regular UK set for only the egg. While it will look cool, it's not quite cool enough to pay 2.5 times as much as the standard version for it in my opinion.

That's one of my annoyances about it too. If it was a scale piece it would have more of a sway over me, but it just looks a little weird. A facehugger crawling out of the egg would have been very cool.

I will take the $30 instead of the packaging any day of the week - the video and audio are all I am interested in

Wow, that's pretty average. Sure the facehugger concept is cool but they've made it so dark it's not particularly eye-catching, not to mention that I don't recall facehuggers ever being black. All in all it just comes off as being cheap. Glad I'm importing this one for $60 from the UK.

Perhaps they're only making 100 because that's all they'll sell as most people will buy the egg edition or import the regular one from somewhere else. That'd make it "limited".

Seriously though, maybe it's a slipcover or box set which will make way for a poverty pack elite case version further down the line.

Could be yeah, would be another way of re-releasing it down the line. Shame the artwork is so cheap looking, and why is the Blu-Ray logo so far down in the middle of the cover? who designs these things. They should get a fan in to do them.

This is tempting!! I already have all these on DVD special editions. But I love these movies and there seems to be so much extras in this pack all on Blu ray!

Wonder if it will be a bit cheaper on release day?
Is this Egg edition limited to a specific number?

JB is now listing the facehugger version for the bargain basement price of only $109!

$20 cheaper than EzyDVD if you're adamant about buying in Australia. It will be interesting to see what Big W is selling it for then.

109 eh? seems like the special edition is better value, especially since i doubt they'll be producing them forever.
