They just want the disc with the movie on it. Keep the extras disc and case, as they are just going to send out a single BD as a replacement.

I posted this in the other thread and thought I'd post here too in case anyone has not sent their disc to Paramount yet.

I took my opened disc back to Walmart without a receipt and they exchanged it for a new copy. They did unwrap the new copy before they gave it to me, but I believe it is the remastered version as it is missing the "2 Disc Set" above the Paramount logo on the case and the # on the mirror band of the disc ends in R2.

I sent mine out on Aug 2 like a lot of others on here. I'm not in too much of a hurry though since I'm deployed right now and won't get back until late October. Can't wait to watch this version of Gladiator though.

Would it work if I were to buy a used 2009 Gladiator copy and exchange it in for the remastered version at Best Buy?

Sure, why not? Many people here have traded in their copies without reciepts. Personally, I'm kicking myself for not waiting a few days to find out I could do the same before I mailed in my copy.

I didn't even consider doing that, I wish I would have thought of that too!

So if I have the UK steelbook, could I send in the disc to the UK exchange and get a remastered disc without a receipt?

or would i be better off just buying the new discs?

I'M KICKING MYSELF TOO!!! (yes I'm yelling) for sending mine in instead of just exchanging it.

This is what I did.

I returned it to Best Buy without a receipt. Told them it was a gift
and it didn't play and they let me take a new copy off the shelf
(remastered version) and they did an even exchange.

The whole process took about a half hour including driving to and
from there. Beats waiting 3 to 4 weeks for Paramount.

If you just post disc 1 with your contact details to your the UK universal address they'll send you back a remastered disc free.

You only have to pay to post it there.

Still waiting for my copy as well. I sent my old disc with a tracking number and they recieved it quite a while ago. Just being patient for now.

Mine did.

The slip case and the actual disc case was lacking the "2-disc set"
monikor above the Paramount logo. The disc is dark grey with white
lettering but has a different number on the inner ring than what is
being reported here.

I clearly have the remastered version, it looks stunning. This might
be the best catalog release I have seen thus far in terms of pq.

Come to think of it, has there been any other instance in which a studio issues a recall/replacement program for a blu-ray that is technically not defective?
I don't know about technically not defective, but I certainly wouldn't put the Gladiator situation under the "technically not defective" label. I would certainly consider attempting to upconvert a DVD master a technical defect. You're right though, you try to doop the consumers, be ready to get burned.
