There is an episode in season 4 called The Constant. It has more raw emotion, tension, and heavy drama than 90% of all the movies I have seen in my entire life. Yes, its THAT friggin good.
Great example, although for pure emotion (and I wouldn't choose a season finale bc it's too easy), I'd prob go with Walkabout bc of THAT ending.

A lot of little things really...
[Show spoiler]I remember the one woman standing around screaming her head off incessantly, one guy wandering around brainlessly by a running turbine and getting sucked in, and Lock staring at his feet (turned out there was a good reason for that ). This was all also a bit compounded by Sawyer being a jerk from the get-go (I think he turned out better as the show went on), the whole deal with Kate being a fugitive and everybody fighting over a handgun, and the mysterious monsters on the island that made us all go "WTF?" And then there was Hurley.

In retrospect, I don't find it nearly as stupid now as I did back then, especially now that I've seen most of the show.

I bought 1-5 when they were on the cheap have not watched them yet but excited to revisit soon especially now that the series has wrapped. Sqiud you must have some incredible will power and avoidance skills to have not seen anything regarding season 6, I hope you like it. Just curious why did you not watch season 6or at least DVR?

first, i'd advise to be careful with netflix: LOST is instantly addicting, and only having 3-4 episodes at a time will drive you slightly crazy. i finished the first disc years ago (on dvd) and it only had 3 episodes on it. when it finished i was furious and instantly bought the dvd set to finish so unless you have a "3 at a time" plan and devote it all to LOST, you've been warned!

i own seasons 1-5 individually, will be getting 6 individually and will be getting the complete collector's series box set AND the 400 page encyclopedia

i'm kind of a big fan

You know...like Inception.

All the hype has worn out just a little bit for me, at least my expectations are set relatively low now.
[Show spoiler]Which would WOW me even more with such low expectations

Yes! That was awesome too. I loved The Constant because of the ginormous sense of urgency and how frigging JARRING the
[Show spoiler]time jumps were. Plus the editing on the time jumps was genius work.

About 4 years ago I borrowed a season of Entourage from a cousin. The wonderfulness of watching back-to-back episodes without waiting a week and without commercials resulted in me completely abandoning broadcast TV Except for LOST. After seeing season one of LOST on Blu-ray, I determined that I could no longer tolerate the inferior PQ of broadcast TV and decided to wait it out each season. Its easy for me to say that I will never go back.

These are all shows that I have seen 1 year after everyone else; Lost, Californication, Mad Men, Damages, Entourage, Breaking Bad, Fringe, 24, 30 Rock, Burn Notice, Weeds, The Big Bang Theory, The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Rescue Me and The Riches.

All my friends and family know that I operate this way and are cool about not spoiling anything, and I avoid the magazine racks like the plague.

I forgot to mention; why were these people wandering around burning wreckage?!!

Looking back though, I can see how these things could keep the viewer questioning and interested. I think we were more fretful over petty survivalism rather than the mystery.

My parents relate "Lost" to a glorified "Gilligan's Island." I see it more like the "Twilight Zone."

Gotcha, Californication is a great show btw Ranckel could be the best character to grace the small screen in quite some time!

It's not even funny how much better Californication is than Entourage. The writing for the past three seasons of Entourage has been absolutely atrocious (this coming from someone who liked the first three seasons).

Totally agree, season II of Californication had so many gut bustin laugh out loud moments, fantastic writing more edgy than Entourage. Looking forward to getting current with this season.

Trying to salvage supplies and belongings that would help them survive.

Odd. I just finished season 6 (gorgeous Blu-ray BTW) and really enjoyed it.

I thought a lot of the banter was still funny and fresh.

[Show spoiler]Ari and Lloyd coming to terms was terrific for me. I thought all the cameos were as good as ever, especially Matt Damon busting Vinces balls for the charity donation. Funny stuff. Of course it would be tough to top the James Woods one.

What irks you about the writing? Has it become too silly, or lost its silly? The direction they are going? The dialogue? The character development/or lack of?

The only complaint I would have, and it would be TINY, is they seemed to have backed off of the "raunchy" a little.

I'm onboard for season 7.

Oh jeez, way too many problems. Cliche writing, no character development, pointless sub-plots. Think about the stalker sub-plot a season or two ago. Ridiculous.

Its a half hour sitcom....it needs subplots to exist. But really, it does.

I disagree about character development in season six. Can the following be defined as character development, or would you call it evolving?

[Show spoiler]Ari learned he wasnt invincible and needs help from other people. He learned how to say "I'm sorry" He learned humility and compassion. He learned that rewarding people is better than abusing them. A huge step from his character from seasons 1-5

Lloyd became a MAN. Well, at least he learned to stand up for himself. He quit and bailed on Ari. He "discovered" himself and gained confidence. He changed a TON

E realized that dating and chasing tail wasnt his gig. He moved out to his own house. He came full circle and got engaged to Sloan and even talked about having kids. He was finally honest with himself about being self-employed and went to work for that big agency. He found his niche.

Turtle decided to grow up and make something of himself and went back to college. He went from full blown slacker to caring about his attendance record and his grades.

Vince hasnt really evolved and Drama is still a goofball. I dont think they can do much wiith Vince because its his "whatever" attitude that is the catalyst of the clan. And Drama always had a clear focus on his career goals anyway, even though he is an oddball.
