I think that Prestige is 100% the better movie, and actually feel that, like Fight Club, is much, much more enjoyable on repeated viewings.

I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that while Kate Beckinsale in fetish gear is fantastic, Prestige boasts Rebecca Hall, Scarlet Johannson and Piper Peraboo in corsets and closeups.

So at the very least, eye candy wise, it's a wash.

If you want a good-quality story with thought-provoking content, get "The Prestige."

If you want cool action and monsters and Kate and blood and s**t, get "Undwerworld" (heck, get all three "Underworld" films!).

The Prestige is one of the ten best English-language films of the last decade. Underworld is a generic action movie. This one is a no-brainer.

You mean to tell me that you disliked the best part of the movie?

That's very unfortunate because that ending was the prestige. The movie was in essence a trick. Or put another way a trick on the viewer's mind. The movie consisted of three acts: the pledge, the turn, and the prestige. You have to view it just as that, a magic trick. Some people will get it, some won't.

Thusly, it's a very clever and sophisticated movie. Sure, it has a lot of dialogue which may cause some to loose their way or turn them away.

You can have your cgi action vampires and werewolves which are a dime a dozen these days.

The Prestige is a rare jewel of a movie that isn't a bunch of cliches or the same ole same ole themes strung together. It's refreshingly different, if you dare to watch it.

Usually these threads are evenly balanced so I avoid them. In this case its 'The Prestige' hands down IMO.

The last part of the movie was completely unexpected for me. But that "twist" killed the movie. The entire time I was thinking that the premise was great how these magicians are constantly trying to one-up the other and Angier obsessively tried to deduce Borden's secrets.

Borden's method of performing the trick was fine. I get it. Lots of magicians do it. But once they threw in the science fiction stuff into the story the film was completely ruined for me. I wish they kept it free of science fiction.

You're right, though. The movie was a trick. It tricked me into thinking I was watching a good movie. I really just can't bring myself to like it.

Sure they're completely different films, but that doesn't mean one isn't remarkably better than the other. Go with The Prestige.

Well said! I agree. Yes, you were tricked whether you liked it or not. That in itself makes the movie worth watching. You won't know until you've seen it unfold right through the end.
