I'd also really love to see Nightwing and Tim Drake as Robin. I think the whole franchise thing has kind of limited the character(s)/stories on film so far, I think more one-and-done's in different eras and styles could be more interesting.

What do you guys want?
This is easy leave the franchise alone, don't make anymore. NOW we know that's not going to happen and whomever takes the helm has the deck stacked against him. While I am in the minority in believing that Burton's vision and Keaton's Batman is better, which direction should the franchise go in?

If you think about it the franchise has to go darker, any other direction would be met with scorn, ridicule and mockery. Look at Batman Arkham Asylum it does not look cookie cutter does it? The envelope will need to pushed, this is how franchises are going. The new Bond is darker, the new Superman will be darker, there will be an R-rated Batman or Superman one day it's only a matter of time and when that Batman garners all the attention folks are going to reference it as the definitive Batman over Nolan's. You can see the "definitive" reference coming from the new Superman now...

I agree with you on much of what you said but i really do not see an R rated Batman or Superman ever being made. I am only talking live action big screen movies not the direct to DVD/Blu movies that come out now. I am ok with them staying in PG-13 world becuase it fits the characters fine.

I can because Nolan is a guy who likes to stick to his guns and his vision was a trilogy i think after this is done massive success or not.

Default The next caped director

Though I´m really sorry the next one is probably Nolans last, I´m ready for another directors take on Batman.

If we want too keep the tone of todays Batman, I think Michael Mann is the man. It would most certainly not give us any of the "weird" villians, but we would get alot of Batmans inner struggle.

Another interesting take would be David Finchers Batman. His nihilstic style in Gotham. Goosebumps...

Guillermo Del Toro... He knows how too bring our world into a fantasy world. And you know he´ll have fun between all the Gargoyles in Gotham.

I'd love to see the Knightfall story arc on film... or at least the main part of it. I think it's be an awesome sight to see a whole slew of villain cameos during the Arkham Asylum breakout. Then, after they've been caught... the Bane/Batman showdown with Batman getting his back broken.

That story would definitely take more than one film in order to do it justice, but I'd love to see it. Zack Snyder would be my top choice to do it, but I'm sure there's others out there that could make a killer Batman film if given the chance.

I 4th a Batman Beyond movie/franchise, I think it could be really cool and it was one of the many ideas between Batman & Robin and Batman Begins

This is a wild shot in the dark but I am pretty sure you hate Batman Beyond. I also have zero and I mean zero interest inseeing Robin.

Hopefully after Nolan, we'll get a reboot and someone will actually make good Batman films for a change.

I don't think his vision was a trilogy, as he didn't even seem certain at first that he wanted to make another Batman movie after The Dark Knight. However, I do think that he will walk away from the series once he has nothing else meaningful to add to it, and that will likely be after this third movie.

This is too depressing to even think about.

I am just going to enjoy the build up from now until July 2012 when we get Nolan's third Batman movie. After that, I'll worry about where it goes from there. Maybe Nolan won't direct it himself, but perhaps Goyer or Jonah Nolan can keep it going (with C-Nolan as an "adviser" in similar capacity to his role on Superman).

What kind of reboot are you looking for? I am hoping for something more like Batman Returns to Batman Forever in the sense that they didn't have to start over, but clearly the franchise took a new direction; though, I would say it wouldn't need to keep some of the actors like that transition did.

I disagree, total reboot (which does not mean origin stories forever). I hate that Burtons movies are lumped in with Schumachers because they didn't officially reboot. I think each take should stand onits own and not be related to somebody else's vision.

Indeed. Hell, Burton's Batman isn't even really an origin story.

Yes, it covers it a bit by showing the death of the Wayne family. But it cuts to the chase.

It didn't need nearly 2 and a half hours like Batman Begins to tell Batman's origins. It did it just fine.

Sure, it was sort of an origin story for The Joker. But then, Batman's villains are more interesting anyway.

Post Nolan should be a Batman that exists in a greater DC universe rather then in a realistic Superhero free world. Post-Nolan should be an older seasoned veteren who can hold his own onscreen with Superman and The Flash.

That would be fine by me. I like the idea of a more seasoned Batman on-screen. I also think it would be a good idea to at least have Batman be open to a larger universe so if a Justice League movie is in the works, film-makers do not have to worry about properties being tied up.

Matthew Vaughn. I think he could do a heck of a job with a proper Robin origin.

Brad Bird. I think just as Nolan was a left field pick at the time, Bird would be as well.

My fear is they'll give it to Goyer, but if one of the Nolan brothers co-writes it, it may not be so bad.
