For those interested in viewing the season before street date... AMC is airing a Walking Dead marathon starting this Friday, March 4th at 8pm airing all six episodes from the first season. Think of it as a free rental.

It's pretty rare for a season of a show to get rereleased. It think if you want it its best to get it Tuesday while its on sale. I think the only way you will see more special features for season 1 is when and if a complete series set comes out.

Thanks for the info, that's good to hear. Will definitely pick it up tomorrow night! Wouldn't mind a soundtrack also, the music during the 'sniper' / bicycle girl scene is amazing.

It MAY even have a limited comic (with the new stories/characters from the show) included.

Expect to hear more at Comic Con this year. To everyone saying that it wouldn't make sense, b/c they don't really do this with TV shows...this isn't a normal TV show This series has the potential (and is already well on the way) to becoming the best selling TV show on Blu-ray/DVD. With the passionate fanbase that The Walking Dead has, they're going to milk it as much as they can. But the quality of the sets will be top notch, both with content and packaging.
I still find it extremely suspect that they would rerelease it again in the same year. Also this is just another show ( though awesome) I dont see what makes it special for a rerelease. And I am sure its selling really well but do you have a link saying its on its way to being the best selling show on BLU. Because I gave read of do many people that don't think its worth the price for only six issues. I also don't see it surpassing sales of Lost, Mad Men, or weeds on BLU for awhile.

It'll DEFINITELY outsell Mad Men, Mad Men is the most critically acclaimed series that can't sell for crap. Sucks for Lionsgate/AMC, that's the main reason why the 5th season is in limbo (or was, not sure if they've struck a deal yet).

The Walking Dead is outpacing True Blood Season 2 for some retailers.

EDIT: My bad, didn't see you said "on the day of release". Yeah, I mean, most successful property's will have double dips, whether with films or TV shows.
Off the top of my head I can only think of a few tv season rereleases where they add features. Even with popular shows it just does not happen much. That's why I'm sceptical about it. Yeah sure they do rereleases where they change packaging but they are the same discs as before.

Also, what are the odds that this guy would HAPPEN to bump into a group of survivors in a city the size of atlanta (WTF) and they just HAPPEN to have a base outside the city that has his wife and kid

again, i dont care if this is based on a graphic novel, no past experience with the walking dead IP should be necessary to begin watching or enjoying the show. They are moving too fast. There should have been several episodes of just him surviving and searching and then eventually found his wife and kid. it seems so ridiculous he finds her by episode 3 when in the show he had no idea where they were too start

to me that would have made a great climax for season 1 or season 2 finale... end the show with him stepping out of the van and meeting his family or something, or hearing their voices on the radio

its just like, theyve already gotten back together, already went to the CDC (which is now destroyed in horrible CGI fashion) what carrot is left to dangle over the viewers heads now? curing the disease? who cares. To that guy having his wife and kid back is all he cared about in the first place

just my 2 cents

not a bad show, but nowhere near the hype level i had been hearing when i picked up this blu-ray
I'm not sure if you know this but the first season was made to be self contained incase it was not picked up for a second season. That may explain a bit why it seems like they went at a fast pace. Had he just been surviving for 4 episodes or so I don't think it would no be quite as good as a stand alone show had it been cancelled. Now that they know the show is a hit season two may be a slower pace.

Sup guys. Finally got some money to get it but I was wondering. When do you think the price of this will come down next? When season 2 is playing on tv or what? Or most likely it'll be under $22 by the holidays? Man, that's too long of a wait.

The price is likely as low as it will be right now. Even then, the $22.99 is amazon's price which is well below what you would pay at Best Buy or another retailer. If anything, the price will likely go back up after its new release marketing blitz, so I would get it to lock in the current price as it will jump back up to $30 or so.

Because most people here treat TV shows like they are of lower quality then movies when shows can be just as good.

$22.99 is a fair price. I jumped on it as a blind buy as usual. I love it, and I can't wait for more. I rely on BD releases since I don't watch movies in theaters as much as I used to, or I have the time to sit and catch a show, or record it on DVD-R.

If it drops to $16.99 for example. That's a great deal for those that waited. For me, I'm a Day 1 purchaser.

Or better, just look at AMC's other shows. Mad Men and Breaking Bad are a hell of a lot better then most movies nowadays.

Glad to see Herschel and Maggie. They're definitely on Book 2 now. A lot more characters will show up if they follow the book. I still hope to see snow and the prison by the end of the season.

That is for the collector tin which is only at Best Buy. I'm sure the standard re-release will be around $30 and the tin probably $50 at release day.

Question

I picked up a copy of this one today at Best Buy....vvv

A few had slipcovers and a few did not, the ones with slipcovers had new UPC stickers on them. What I did is pull a slipcover off one of them and put it on a copy without a new UPC sticker on it. Does anyone know why they changed the UPC on some which must be some older copies of The Walking Dead: Season 1?

Again, basically my Best Buy has several copies of this show that have UPC stickers covering up the old UPCs, I am just curious why the UPC change? Apparently the UPC for this BD was changed so i'd think the new one must be different in some way.

Anyone know?

thanks!
