I think Scorcese must've switched back to film to give it a more time period look

This movie looks completely ridiculous, and I cannot wait to see it.

That trailer is pretty tight, as Jonah would say.

Does the trailer give that much of the plot away?

I can't take Jonah Hill seriously in a drama. How did he even get nominated for Moneyball? He wasn't terrible or anything but, was it really oscar material?

This movie doesn't exactly look like a drama.

I was against him being cast in this at first. Didn't seem right for an unproven drama actor to be working with Scorsese and DiCaprio. But after seeing the trailer, and the tone it appears to have, he seemed to be fine in the footage we saw. Paramount will most likely campaign him for best supporting actor for this movie.

I agree he was nothing special in Moneyball. He did fine, but I guess people were so amazed that he wasn't swearing every other line or acting like an idiot.

The tone caught me by surprise as well. I don't know about the book, all I knew was it's DiCaprio/Scoresese and I read crime/drama on IMDb. This trailer makes it seem like some satire/black comedy with shit getting 'real' in the 3rd act.

Looks like a wild ride.

Well this looks very interesting. Been curious to see some footage since that first shot of DiCaprio walking the streets.

I know, but I like it.

It's just that we're embedded to associate Scorsese with the mobster genre like peanut butter and jelly.

Which is something I really don't understand at all.

Scorsese has an incredibly diverse filmography: The Age of Innocence, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, The Last Temptation of Christ, After Hours, The King of Comedy...plus several, several others that don't fit into a gangster or crime mode.

With 24 narrative, feature-length films only four can really be said to be of this mold: Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Departed. Who's That Knocking at My Door?, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull are only tangentially associative of this.
