If people really wanted to do the "Donate money" thing, they should have done it ten years ago when the show was actually cancelled. We could got a Farscape like story.

It's too bad but soon it will be a decade since the show as been gone. Getting everyone back from what they are doing now would be next to impossible for a new series.

A movie might work?

I'd go to another movie. Just a fun group of characters in a show that shouldn't work (cowboys in space with a Chinese influence ) - but it does.

Unfortunately, it's done.

I watched this TV-show in 3 days. I also watched the movie Serenity. I didn't know Firefly was canceled. That was a bad decision. Does anyone know if this TV show will return? I really liked this TV show .

Are there any sci-fi TV shows like Firefly?

There is an effort to get an animated version of the tv show. Summer Glau was asked about it the other night when she was doing PR for Alphas. She said she'd love to return and voice her character. Considering how amazingly well the other actors continue to support this show at conventions Im sure many would return. Many of them like Fillion, Bacarrin, & Glau have done voice work for DC Animation.

As for a movie, Im sure if Whedon wanted to do it he could get it done. His stock has never been higher. I dont think ud ever reunite the cast for a live action tv show tho.

You don't even need the entire original cast since 3 of them died.

Whedon said that if they re-brought Firefly back they would act like Serenity never happened, so Wash would be back, and book would be back too.

Good. Though i liked serenity, i think whedon went too far. Killing Book was one thing, but the way he killed Wash was cruel.

that was because Alan Tudyck asked to be killed off, he didn't want to play the character for any more follow up movies at the time so he wanted to be written out

Whedon has already stated, time and time again, that the series is dead. I doubt he has any interest in returning to do the series. Currently, 20th Century Fox still retains rights to the original series.

It just surprises me that every so often, someone will try to resurrect the notion of bringing Firefly back. It's like beating that dead horse. I hear the same thing about bringing Farscape back and even Star Trek: Enterprise.

While it may have been possible to bring them back, at some point, I think the time has passed for a resurrection of these shows. But, it is entertaining.

Very few shows can be successfully brought back.

The new Brady Bunch was horrible.
The new Dark Shadows didn't last long.
The Gilligan's Island follow-up films were worse than awful.

I would enjoy another movie, but I think a resurrection of the series would be big disappointment for fans.

The possibility of an animated version of the show was tossed out by Sean Maher (Simon) at last month's New York Comic-Con. He indicated it's in the early stages and there has been no other confirmation. Could they do it? Well I doubt Whedon would be opposed tho who can say how much he would want to be involved. FOX, who owns the rights has had good luck with animated shows, tho all comedies, in the past. Who knows?
