Its Kurt Russell so of course I'll be buying it. Throw in guns and space and it's a no-brainer.

no its not serious but then again its not comedy. i just like the atmosphere. science-fiction ish. people who like universal soldier could like it. but its still different enough. i had the vhs copy and regretted not buying the dvd when i saw it a couple of years ago. i`ll be getting this one

hope the transfer is good. no dnr please.keep the good grain
Oh this is a Paul Anderson film? I would say it's his best one.

I love this movie. If the price is reasonable ($15 or less) I'll pick it up for sure.

Default Great I am very happy about this Release :)

I have had Soldier for years on DVD. I just love this movie. Yea its not Horror. No Cursing and Blood and Guts. Just kik ass Kurt Russell. I love his role in this. I strongly recommend a blind buy on this if you can get it. I am sorta worried ill miss it. I noticed that the Blu ray Case appears to be a good one. Not a shrimp case. You see you cant stack the shrimp cases. It will wear them out. So Source Code and Solider on the 26th. That should be a nice day.

Not terrible by any means, just a bit difficult for me to watch when I think about all the potential it had.
I second that, it had soo much potential but the execution left something to be desired... plus I dislike Sean Pertwee, he's not a believable actor to me.

That said I'll buy this for a tenner or less... hopefully we get some extras...

I remember enjoying the hype surrounding how Russell and Lee shaped their bodies for this film. This was Kurt Russell's "buff" flick. He was always muscular, but this was the one where he got huge for the film.

Last good film with Jason Scott Lee in it too - too bad, I miss him.

And the movie has chubby Comish Michael Chiklis! They should digitally replace his jolly chubby old self with the new buff kick-ass self!

Ahh....Soldier. From the good Paul Anderson. He always provides a few hours of quality pulp entertainment.

I have no doubt whatsoever that the presentation on this disc will be solid across the board, and I'm guessing it will garner high scores in both the visual and audio departments. Can't wait to see it next week!

Wasn't this the film that trashed Anderson's career? From what i remember, Soldier cost $70m to make and made $10m! It went straight to video in the UK, and the next thing that Anderson made was a television film called 'The Sight' before finally convincing an Indie studio to let him make Resident Evil 1 for a mere $30m.

Until Resi4, Anderson's career never recovered. Apart from Aliens Vs Predator he has never had a film makes as much as his first foray Mortal Kombat.

May rent this film from Lovefilm when it becomes available. Would love to see the Blade Runner team of Peoples and Scott re-team to have made this film rather than Anderson.

Didn't he do Predator 2? Wasn't that before Mortal Kombat?

Here you go guys: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0027271/

IMHO Soldier and Event Horizon are still his best films.

Yes, it was a Box-Office failure. According to IMDB, estimated budget was $75 million, and it only recouped $14.5 million. It is my opinion that "Soldier" was hamstrung by an extremely poor marketing/advertising campaign, including one of the worst theatrical trailers I've ever seen. I vividly recall seeing the preview prior to the film's release back in 1998, and I literally laughed at how bad it was (especially when the White Zombie song kicked in), and remember saying to myself that there was no way I'd be going to see it when it came out.

It wasn't until I saw it on TV about a year later, that I realized what I'd missed. I was completely blown away by how good of a movie it was, and it instantly became one of my favorites. I don't think many people who have seen this film, dig deep enough into its psychological aspects, which I personally find fascinating.
