Yes, I have a Samsung BDP2500 that I've had for a couple years and it's been rock solid, plays everything I've ever thrown at it and with Reon processor the PQ is excellent. But I'll never buy another Samsung after reading all the problems other folks have had with different Samsung models. And I ended up with the 2500 almost by accident as Best Buy had it on display when I took my Samsung BDP1400 back for return and I was impressed with the DVD upconversion. The 1400 was aboslutely the worst piece of shite I ever had and I returned it after only 2 days. It had this bug that if you paused a BD for more than a few minutes when you hit Play instead of resuming playback it loaded the disc all over again as if you'd just inserted the disc. And with slow loading java discs or $%#@! Lionsgate BDs that make you skip a half dozen trailers one by one, that's adding insult to injury.
![]() And even though my 2500 has been perfect, I read on AVSforum that alot of folks have a problem with Netflix streaming, that the player keeps dropping the Netflix device setting and they have to enable it all over again. But I don't even have my player connected to the internet. Last edited by The Duke; 04-17-2011 at 03:12 PM. |

The player is painfully slow, and with DVD's it will usually freeze or skip, while playing them, while my old DVD player plays them just fine

I've never had a problem with my Samsung BD-P1600, knock on wood. Can't say as though I agree with the majority in this thread based upon my own world experience - although, I do agree about the slow firmware updates.
My little Samsung BD-P1600 is still rocking and I haven't had issues with it. Scrolling through our Netflix instant queue can be annoyingly slow, but that's not a deal breaker to me and I already knew about that going in. |

My Samsung bd-c6500 blu ray player will not start. It powers on, displays "Hello" then displays "LOAD" and does nothing. There is not even a disc in the player to try to load. The screen stays black the whole time. The player worked fine for the first couple weeks I had it, but now it does not. I only watched a few movies on it too. Occasionally after I turn it on and off a hundred times and unplug it and plug it back in it will work and get me to the menu screen, but its rare. Does anybody else have this problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

I've had my 6500 for months now and it's played everything so far without a hitch. I've had no issues. WiFi works perfect via my WRT610 Linksys router and I've received updates as they release them. The player has been flawless since I bought it. I would recommend you take yours back and exchange it for another one.

This Samsung Bluray is simply the worst!
I have been trying to watch the newly released Hunger Games on a Samsung BD-P1590. It wouldn't play. I downloaded and installed the latest (July 5) firmware from Samsung's website; both the Flash Drive and the CD versions. Both installs were successful but neither allowed the Bluray DVD to play. I called Samsung support and was told that the firmware upgrade was written before Hunger Games was released and the DVD will not play on my Bluray until the next firmware upgrade is released. And when can I expect the next firmware release??? I was told that the next revision should be released sometime within the next 12 to 14 months. I'm considering recording a youtube video of me shooting this worthless Bluray player full of holes. |

A good friend of mine loves his Samsung HDTV and he bought 3 Samsung blu ray players before he finally caved and picked up a Sony.
He had the first player bp1000 or whatever,... Not dead but still completely unuseable these days. He keeps it in its original box,... Paid like $800 for it open box deal. ![]() I helped him with lots of fw updates but he finally got tired of now knowing if a disc would play. |

(I'm posting this here because I can't post new threads.)
The above player is connected to a Yamaha RX-A700 receiver via HDMI 1.4. The receiver does not detect the unprocessed bitstream signal. All the other sound on the disk it plays. Yamaha had me connect my Playstation 3 set to bitstream output to confirm that the receiver does handle the bitstream signal. It does. It also sees the DTS-HD and Dolby-HD encoded bitstream signals when the player is set for those. This is the second Samsung player with this problem. The first was a BD-D5700. Has this been a problem with these players? I just want to be sure the problem is with the player before I return it. Thanks. |

I am using this with a Samsung LE40C530 TV. The navagation buttons on top and bottom of the home screen on the Blu-Ray player are not showing fully. I have set both the TV and the player to 16.9 and the home screen to size 1. However, still can't view navagation buttons fully when in Internet mode. Also, would a universal wireless/mouse combo work with this box. If not, can you recommend a suitable keyboard. |

I've had this player for some time with no complaints until I signed up for Netflix and found the menu updates to be quite slow... compared to my Playstation. The Wifi and ethernet work great and Hulu+ is good. I thought updating the firmware may help with the Netflix issue...
I updated to vBSP-D6500ZA-1032.1 and now it has a mind of its own! The player powers up and shuts down on its own. Did the reset and unplugged it overnight - without success. I'd like to go back to the previous firmware version - is it possible? My email to Samsung told me to check to make sure the plug was securely in the wall!!! ...and that the older version cannot be loaded but I can fill out a trouble ticket on my player for repair. My response was that it was insulting to ask me to look at the plug and it was THEIR update causing this. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks, Nick |

Their customer service is horrible stokester. I've been ask to unplug the machine, do a hard reset, etc. to fix issues and nothing worked. I ended up throwing it back in the box and buying a Sony S5100. Haven't regretted that decision.

I've had the 5900 for a week. I've had freezing twice, both times at the point where it seems there's a layer change going on (blu ray discs do layer changes?), both times with rented discs. The 3 discs that I bought have not had this problem. What's up with this? Something to do with layer changes?

We got a refurbished 5700 (Which I think that the only difference is that it does not support 3D). We have not problems with it at all. I Think that the slowness could come from the fact that some blu ray discs try to have live content that has to be loaded by a java program. My best guess is that it is loaded before the movie starts playing so as to not interrupt the movie with loading the software. Some blu ray movies are more expensive than others.

I have a BD-E5700 Samsung. Nothing but trouble. Drops signal, freezes etc. The answer, I have to re-format it at least once a week. Unplug it for 20 seconds, plug it in, push & hold the "play" button in for 15 seconds. This wipes its memory clean & reloads new software. It's a hastle, but it works.

The samsung blu ray BD5500 did the update by mistake, it was on download in standby mode and the update made it so it will not play any of my blu rays. Samsung told me to do the reset and it would go back to factory settings. That is not possible!
No more of these junkie blu ray players from mfgs that send out updates just to mess up what you have so you have to get it fixed or replaced. If it does not have an HD digital copy online you can keep it because the disc will not last! Last edited by m1beachbud; 02-27-2014 at 04:35 AM. |

No offense is intended to anyone effected, but I'm not sure what is more questionable... the fact that Samsung still makes Blu-Ray players or the fact that people still continue to buy them.
I had the misfortune of obtaining one of their early models, and learned quickly about the issues with their firmware upgrades (be slow to come out, being buggy, etc.). Luckily I received that player for free, so I wasn't out any significant money from that experience (I did have to pay for shipping though when a firmware update 'bricked' the machine at one point when it was still under warranty). That experience it convinced me shortly there after to get a PS3 (I'm now up to 2 PS3s and a stand alone Sony BD player.... and a PS4 now as well. I still technically 'have' the Samsung unit, but it just collects dust). While I don't venture into threads about Samsung players regularly, I have a handful of times over the years since my experience, and it seems to more or less be the same song-and-dance. A newer model comes out, it works great "at first," time goes by, more updates come out, and problems ensue. I hear great things about Samsung's TVs, but there's no way in hell I'd ever buy another Blu-Ray player made by them. EDIT: Ha! I didn't realize how old this thread actually is. My thoughts on Samsung players are on the first page from a few years ago. ![]() Last edited by Dynamo of Eternia; 02-26-2014 at 09:45 PM. |
