i finally found a local place! well its about an hour from my house, which doesnt bother me at all ... I kind of want to go with them because i have 2 weeks off right now and every other repair service i would use would take about 2 weeks to get back to me, this i can just drive over and probably have it done in a day or two.

Dropped it off this morning got it back tonight, cost me $60 bucks and it comes with a 90 day guarantee .. the guy was nice and im happy with it, kept all my data ... I still think ill buy a new slim and use the xfer utility, just sell my 60GB as a repaired system on ebay

That's exactly what I did but I still have my "precious" I could never bring myself to get rid of her.

I love my 60GB too, mainly for the sleek aesthetics =P ... but i dont wanna have to deal with this problem again in a year or a few months, and working 60GB are worth some money to people from what I hear

You are correct & you will make some cash! I chose to keep mine & relegated her to storage duty, i.e. music, MP4s, photos & whatnot.
