Loved this movie, definitely picking it up on day 1. Not a fan of the cover art though. IDK, just too generic.

I didn't get to see it in the theaters too. I did see the first one and loved it. Hopefully I'll have the same feelings for this release.

I don't own a 3D display yet (hopefully upgrade to a 3D projector this year or next), but it still pisses me off that I can't buy films like this *once* on blu-ray... even if I pay a premium, for 3D right out of the gate. I can't stand double dipping for something that could (and should) have been sold to me the first time. Yes, Dreamworks, I'll pay more for your 3D version if that's what it takes, but sell it to me.

Sheesh!

Only 4 weeks to the supposed 10/11 release date with no official announcement, from everything I heard this is the release date, but I am waiting for a official word from Paramount to go ahead and pre-order this.

They just got around to announcing Transformers 3 and that comes out at the end of this month, so an announcement for this should come soon.

Well I should be expecting to hear a official announcement from paramount confirming the release date, because this site and dvdtalk.com have this slated for 10/11, but videoeta.com has this being released in November which will annoy me, because I was annoyed last year when i had to wait 7 months for Shrek Forever After to come from theaters to blu-ray

The date for KFP 2 is now December 13.

They originally had it slated for 11/11, but then Potter came in and claimed that week, so Paramount pushed it back. Really looking forward to seeing this on Blu, didn't get to catch it at the theater.

Until I see an official announcement, I won't get worked up over anything. It doesn't make much sense to take so long to release this if it doesn't come out until December, but at the same time this will be cheaper if it comes out during the holiday shopping season.

One of the few movies I missed in the theater this year, I look forward to seeing it! (Dustin Hoffman is still in it, right?)

Also considering that Harry Potter is now almost certainly confirmed for 12/9, it would be idiotic of them to release this 4 days after that unless they want sales to flop as bad as the domestic box office did. Paramount always is the worst for how long they take for theater to blu ray release. This is why I am always more happy to purchase movie released by Disney!
Why are you freaking out? HP 7 Part 2 is coming in November, as TMNTrent stated, and has been rumored for a bit now. Where are you getting December from? But I agree 7 months from theater is quite a long time, same with Hangover 2.

Secondly sales would be horrible for this if they released it on 12/13, when Harry Potter is all but confirmed for 12/9, their is no way this disc will sell well, Harry Potter is going to be what everyone wants for Christmas. I said it before Paramount/Dreamworks are the absolute worst studio to deal with with their high MSRP's, their crappy transfers Megamind and the Gladiator fiasco, and them releasing 3D discs exclusively. When I take my fiance to watch Puss N Boots I will buy a ticket for Muppets and go watch that movie just to screw Dreamworks, Disney knows how to treat their consumers well!
I never said that waiting that long was a good thing, but again, none of the dates you have mentioned are official and aren't worth getting worked up about until we see anything of the sort. Just to entertain the possibility though, the whole Shrek series and Despicable Me came out a week apart from one another last December in the middle of a really loaded month and they both sold really well in the end. In the end though, I could care less how it sells as long as I get a really good release at a solid price.

For the most part, Paramount's transfers for new movies are as good as anyone's. Megamind was a rare occurrence.

Also, you'll miss what will likely be pretty good animated movie for really no reason, but that's none of my business. I want to see The Muppets too, but I'm not going to boycott a movie I really want to see just because they might be releasing Kung Fu Panda 2 seven months after it was in theaters.

Nothing has been confirmed as far as I know, but Paramount has a pretty good track record with DreamWorks animated movies getting a slipcover recently. How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek 4, and the re-release of Kung Fu Panda all got one.
